Trials of the new girl (Open)
Roxy made her way to her next class already becoming familiar with the hallways now that she had managed to remember where her classes were. 'At least I don't get lost anymore!'
Next on her list for the day was Chemistry. Roxy let out a little sigh. Science was definitly not one of her favorite subjects after what her and Matt been through. 'I wonder how Matt can tolerate learning about some of the things that they did to us...'
Clearing her head with a little shake, Roxy regained her thoughts, 'No, Matt said we're safe here, so there is no reason to think like that.'
Looking down the hall, Roxy could see the doorway to her class and picked up her pace. Upon entering she found a seat and quickly sat down getting her books ready for today's lesson.
Students were still filing in when Dr. Archimedes Merchant entered and began to get his lesson plan started. "Alright class, take your seats. In todays lesson we're going to do a small experiment. So divide yourselves up into groups and we'll get this underway. The experiment will be ..."
Roxy stopped listening at this point as she looked around the room. Already people were beginning to pick out who they wanted to work with. Silently looking around, Roxy was already beginning to feel left out as pretty much everyone had been grouped up except for her. 'Maybe I can get away with just watching someone...'
OOC:
(Anybody wanna work with poor cutesy Roxy? And considering she's alone in her Quad all the time its no wonder no one would pick her.)

Roxy was a little shocked when a square-jawed girl with green skin sat down next to her with a slouch. Four-inch horns poked up through her wild hair. Roxy had already seen people who looked like her: they plagued the Hollows and Skyway City.
"Hey, new girl," said the troll gruffly.
"Roxy," she said meekly.
The green girl considered this for a moment. "Okay, Roxy," she said, but she still did not introduce herself. "You're smart, right? Word is you're from another dimension or something, so you're smart, right?"
Roxy looked at the girl with surprise. She hadn't realized people were already talking about her and Matt. "I guess I do okay," she said quietly.
The troll looked relieved. "Great," she said with an air of relief. "We'll work together."
Roxy blinked, then smiled. "Okay, sure," she said happily. "I guess the first thing we need to do is--"
"Terrific," the green girl said, interrupting her. "Listen, I don't know anything about this chemistry stuff. So, why don't you get started, and I'll just kinda follow along, yeah?"
Roxy stared into the troll's eyes. They were friendly, but hard, and Roxy suddenly realized that this girl seemed dangerous somehow.

"Well, um okay... It says here on the worksheet that we're supposed to see if we produce a reaction from these two unknown substances and record our results..." Roxy read out as she looked away from the troll.
Roxy began to set up the bunsen burner and the apparatus that would hold the beaker. "Um... What is your name?"
The troll kinda glared at Roxy, leaving her to quickly turn her head back to the experiment. "Um... Could you pass me the first chemical..."
The troll looked at the chemicals and then back to Roxy. Roxy pointed to one of the beakers nearby holding a blueish liquid, and the troll moved it so that Roxy could get it. Roxy took the liquid and poured it into the beaker being held above the burner. Roxy tried hard not to read the trolls thoughts but couldn't help but wonder who this person was and kind of dropped her control on her powers.
"Are... Are you..." Roxy asked almost in a whsiper, "Are you a troll?"

The green girl's expression was inscrutible for a moment. Then, slowly, she balled up her fists and set them on the lab table, as if steadying herself. Roxy immediately knew the depths of her tresspass: she didn't need to probe the girl's mind to read the changes to her demeanor.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have--" Roxy stuttered.
"Listen real good, Rox, and maybe we'll get through this and be pals," the green-skinned girl said. Her voice was almost a growl. "My name is Saskia. I am not a troll any more than you're a damned Praetorian. And when I am done with this sentence, you are going to finish this lab experiment and then you and I are going to walk over to Dr. Merchant's desk and hand it in." Saskia met Roxy's eyes again, and Roxy saw the edges of her eyes were moist. "We clear, Rox?"
Roxy nodded, feeling both guilty about having offended the girl and bothered by the implication that she would be dong all the work for both of them. But the green girl's fists were large, and Roxy knew how fine the line could get between irritation and anger, and that line was pretty well painted across Saskia's face.
Well, Roxy thought, reaching for the second beaker, at least I have a nickname.

As Roxy noted the changes and reactions in the chemicals she couldn't help think that she was never going to fit in. "I didn't mean what I said..."
Roxy wasn't even thinking anymore what she was saying, here she was working on an experiment with a forced opportunity to get to know someone and all she had done was cause more pain. "I'm... I'm not familiar with seeing so many different people with powers... I'm not even familiar with things outside the school..."
Roxy even began to think that she was making up excuses rather then repair any damage that she had caused. "I'm really sorry Saskia..."
Not even sure if she was even being heard, "I'll be quiet now and just finish this..."
Roxy tried to focus on the careful pouring of the next chemical into the heated beaker. But she couldn't help think of just getting this done so she could run back to her room and just hide there till she could talk with Matt. She quickly reached up and wiped a tear from her eye, as she placed the empty beaker back down and picked up her pencil.

Roxy finished the experiment with Saskia in silence, constantly going over her own words and regretting them each time she recalled what she had said. 'That was dumb of me... I shouldn't have said anything...'
Handing in their papers to Dr. Merchant, Roxy sat back down at the desk and kept to herself until the buzzer rang. She watched Saskia leave before her and made sure to let her get a good start before Roxy realized it was now time for lunchbreak.
'First food, then back to my room.' She thought as he headed towards the cafeteria.
Waiting in line for her meal, she could see Saskia was sitting already at one of the tables in the lunchroom with a bunch of other students, 'No doubt telling them about how stupid I was to ask if she was a troll...'
Roxy shaked her head clear of her thoughts as she recieved her meal, she didn't even look to what she got, just quickly turned and began to look for a table far away from everyone else so she wouldn't cause further misconceptions.

"Oh man, oh man... where is this classroom supposed to be? I've already check like, three halls, and everyone keeps pointing me to the wrong direction! The teacher will kill me if I don't meet with him during the lunch period!"
Autumn is walking fairly fast in the hallways, trying to get to his latest class of physics.
"I don't even know why I'm taking this class... I defy the laws of physics everyday practically... oh snap! The time!"
Autumn begins to run, attempting to find the right physics lab.
"Hmm... mabye if I cut across the cafeteria, I can get to the other side of the school and check out those hallways."
Autumn makes a right down the next hall, and beams towards the cafeteria. Opening the doors to the cafeteria, he can see and hear all the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria, and the door on the far side of it all.
'Mabye... mabye if I pull off some of those acrobatic tricks my sensei tried to teach me... I can get by as fast as possible! And if I slip up... I'll just regenerate it anyway. What's the worst that can happen?'
Autumn shrugs, and takes a running leap into the crowd of tray-carrying students. As soon as he lands, he does a twist to his right to avoid a girl and her tray, and ducks into a forward double somersault to dodge two boys. He springs himself leftward to avoid another girl, and catches a column with his left foot, and springs off forward towards the door. He goes into a front-flip to avoid another tray, a twist to the left once he lands, crouching into a backwards somersault, and springs up into a jumping stradle over the head of two girls, landing perfectly with his back to the door, about 15 feet away from it.
Autumn shows a wide grin, as some of the people stare at him, wondering what just happened.
"Yeah, I'm awesome!" he says to himself, and turns around to the door...
...colliding into Roxy and her tray! The tray falls forward, and all the contents of her tray fall on to the ground. To Autumn, Roxy looks like she was in a somewhat large shock. Autumn himself was in a gigantic shock, mouth wide open in disbelief.
"I'm... I'm so sorry! Forgive me! I... I... I didn't see you behind me!"
Autumn involuntarily gets on his knees, and starts to pick up the fallen contents of her tray. Autumn always tries to treat girls with utmost respect when he does something bad around them.
"Please... allow me to pick up your spilt food. Seriously, I'm so sorry."

As Autumn is picking up the knocked contents of Roxy's food, his mind is suddenly filled with overwhelming feelings of anger, rage, frustration, and sadness. The feeling is intense, incredibly hard to resist and constantly shifts from one to the other. All this occurs in the blink of an eye and leaves Autumn disoriented a bit as Roxy finally comes to focus on her surroundings again and regains her control on her powers.
Still shocked and stunned, Roxy just sits there on the floor unsure of what to do really. 'Today just keeps getting worse... I wish Matt was here...'
Roxy looks around and notices that the girl from chemistry is in the lunch room as well and she saw the whole thing, 'Great... Now she probably thinks I'm a klutz...'

Autumn, still quite astranged by the collision, picks up all the spilt food, and napkins and such, all gather onto Roxy's tray. He holds the tray with the foodstuffs on it, successfully picked up.
"Um... I'll toss this in the trash for you."
Autumn walks over to the trashcan, dumps the tray's contents into the trash, and stacks the tray upon other dirty trays nearby.
Autumn looks over to Roxy, sigh, and yells to her.
"I'm really sorry! I'd love to apologize more, but I need to get running to class!"
Autumn runs over to the door, and opens it, but turns his head back.
"Hey, I'll look for you sometime in the future, to apologize again when I'm not in a rush!"
And with that, Autumn pushes himseld through the doors, and searches the other wing of the building for his class.

"Rox..?"
Roxy looked up and into Saskia's eyes. The troll girl-- no, she's not a troll, Roxy thought, correcting herself quietly-- seemed concerned. She looked at the food splattered on Roxy's jacket and skirt, and frowned angrily. Saskia turned quickly and stared at Autumn as he retreated from the lunchroom.
"Rox, what happened?"
Roxy just shook her head. "Nothing... It was... an accident."
Saskia nodded, but she was still frowning. "Well, let's take care of you."
Saskia took Roxy by the hand and dragged her back to the lunchline. She grabed a tray and loaded it with food again as Roxy ran over the day in her mind. As Saskia shoved her way towards the cashier, Roxy snapped back to the present.
"Saskia, I don't have any more money."
The green-skinned girl just winked. "No sweat, Rox." Saskia turned to face the cashier, who smiled at her. "Muriel, this is going to be on my account." The cashier nodded, and rang in the items, finaly swiping Saskia's ID through the card-reader.
"You don't have to buy me lunch," Roxy protested weakly.
Saskia grinned. "It's not really on me. It's on the school," she said, waving her ID card. Roxy frowned, confused. Saskia laughed a little. "I'm on full scholarship, Rox. This school basically owns me. It's taken care of, I get a stipend for food."
Roxy's head swam a little as Saskia rejoined her with the tray and began to walk across the cafeteria. What a change had come over her strange new lab partner! The green girl handed Roxy a handful of napkins. "Wipe your jacket, Rox." Roxy nodded and absently began to try to clear herself off.
Suddenly, Saskia stopped at a tabe nearby to where Autumn had collided with Roxy only minutes before. The green girl set down the tray, and slid onto a chair at the table, gesturing for Roxy to take the next seat. Roxy swallowed hard.
The table was not unoccupied.
A boy with stark white skin and deep black stripes sat, evaluating Roxy with a malicious smirk. He was broad-shouldered; if he stood up, he'd nearly be a square. Next to him were two massive young men, but they were in almost all other ways very different. One was blond, the other had dark brown hair. The blond was tan, the dark-haired boy was pale. But the thing tat stood out most was the strange prosthesis the dark-haired boy wore, replacing one of his arms with a hug red mechanical appendage. The prosthesis was so big, his jacket only had one sleeve. A few other girls and boys sat at the table, and all of them stared at her, evaluating her.
Saskia lost patience with Roxy's moment of insecurity and pulled her down onto the empty chair. The boy with the stripes leaned forward and stared at Roxy in a way that made her uncomfortable. "Who's this, B?"
"This is Rox," Saskia proclaimed, and Roxy realized there was a certain inflection of pride in the way Saskia introduced her. "And you'll be nice, Stripes." The boy leaned back again, but retained his smirk. "Rox, let me go around. This charming young man is Tolliver. And this is Biff, Jack, Maureen, Tommy, Keith, Sarah, Jessie and Lola." Saskia drew out the O in Lola, so she said Looooh-la. Lola rolled her eyes when Saskia said her name.
Roxy couldn't do much more than nod. As she glanced around, she noticed that lots of the other kids at the other tables were staring at her with mixed expressions of disdain and envy. She watched as the boy Saskia had called Kieth shooed another student away when he tried to sit at the end of the table, even though those seats were empty.
And just as the conversation started up again, Roxy realized that she had breached the most inaccessible bastion of High School: she was sitting in the lunchroom with the popular kids.

Roxy looked around at the people she just met at this table thanks to Saskia and thought to herself, 'Maybe I jumped to conclusions... She seems really nice, especially since she bought me a new lunch after that guy knocked me over...'
Roxy took a look around the lunch room and seemed to be the new center of attention for the moment in the lunch room. Not because she still had some mess on her school uniform but, now due to her sudden elevation in the schools hierachy.
Roxy looked over to Saskia, "Thanks for lunch."
Roxy wanted to say more but her voice seemed to disappear from her when she thought that she was now talking to the popular crowd. Even though Saskia had made it clear that she was to be accepted into this group, Roxy was still uncertain on this new situation that had developed.
"Um... What do you guys do?" Roxy asked aloud without thinking. After realizing everyone was looking at her puzzled she rephrased, "Um, I mean... What do you guys do aside come to learn here?"
