--School--
“Oh Myra! Your homework is missing again! When are you going to turn it in? That’s the fifth time this month you haven’t turned an assignment in!” One of the teachers had said the same thing not two days before. ‘Don’t they understand I’m trying to plan a wedding?’ Myra sighed and nodded and said she would have it by the next class period.

Trying to work, fight crime on the side, plan a wedding, deal with a pregnancy, find time to do homework, go to class, and cook dinner was just too much!! “My heads going to explode!!” she screamed at the sky. ‘grrr’ she throws her books into her backpack and takes flight ‘Maybe I can get some work done at the Box…’

--Steel Canyon, Pandora’s Box Magic Shoppe--

A short woman turns to the door as a small dark haired girl walks in just on time for work “Oh hey Myra! Glad you’re here look I need to talk to you about something…”

--Same time in the Pocket D nightclub--

“Hey! Barkeep! Shirley Temple! Toot sweet!” a smart looking blond shouts to the dirty blonde haired man above the blaring music that is Pocket D.

Nate looks over and grins “Shirley Temple coming right up!”

‘Damn working here is awesome! Tons of people, the music’s great and the tips rule’ Nate thought to himself. With the wedding only a few days off things are really coming together. “Here you areeeee! Oops! Almost spilled it sorry, ma’am”

“No big thang!” she laughs and walks off”

Nate looks down to see what he tripped on. It was his pile of school books he had brought with him right from class. “Pfft like I should even care. Im graduating in a month, they wouldn’t hold me back would they?” he says out loud knowing that no one can hear him over DJ Zero playing his beats.

“Yo Nate…” a tall darkly tanned man walks up to the bar

“Hey Dave! What’s up bro? Zero need a drink?” Nate starts pulling up the various bottles for Zeros favorite drink.

“Nah he’s cool. Ey look mon I need ta tak to ya bout sumtin’ from da big man Zero.” The look Dave gives Nate isn’t one of good news as the nightclub Assistant manager pulls the young man aside.

--That night, back at their apartment in Overbrook--

SLAM! “Damnit!” Nate storms in the apartment he and Myra shares and after tossing his jacket aside he grabs a drink from the fridge and drops on the couch to steam about his terrible day. “That dirty sack of donkey…” he doesn’t finish the thought and swigs half his soda in one long draught.

SLAM! “Mother fu…Oh hey Hun…” Myra stops mid curse to a semi-surprised Nate, sitting on the couch.

“Wow babe, what’s got you so pissed?” he asks. Pulling her down to him on the couch

“My hours got cut from the Panda box…I’m failing more then half my classes because I’m trying to work so much…” she sat next to him and kissed his cheek.

“Oh crap, are you serious?” he looks at her with disbelief.

“Yeah, why do you ask?” she looks at him confused.

“I just got fire…correction, ‘let go’ from Zeros place.” He grunted.

“No way! How come?” her face squints up in sadness.

“They are over staffed and had to let 4 people go. I was number 3.” He looks down at his feet. “No hard feelings, though. He’s just doing his job.”

“Well damn, what are we going to do? We have the baby on the way and wedding…” Myra looks worried and she leans in next to Nate.

“I don’t know…we might have to put the wedding on hold. And try to look for another job and see if they are still hiring at El Mexicano…” he griped her hand and smiled. “Don’t worry we can work this out. We ‘Are’ heroes after all”

‘Not as of late I’m not, I have two mid terms due, a history on the cotton mill and more math then I would care to mention.” She glares at her backpack

“Hah, you aren’t serious right?” Nate looks at her

“Yeah why? What about you? I haven’t even seen you pick up a book much less go to class.” She digs in her coat pocket and pulls out a bunch of tightly balled papers “here, today’s noted on James Taylor’s something or other…”

“Oh come on! Why are you worried? We are graduating in less then a month and getting married less then that!” He looks at her in disbelief.

“Um yeah and I don’t want to fail.” She doesn’t see where this is going, so he explains it.

“We are GR-AD-U-AT-ING!! We don’t have to study! I know I haven’t been why are you?” We have an apartment and I will find a new job. No worries.” He leans back and puts his feet on the table

“Maybe….Ugh…oh no…” Myra’s face suddenly twisted up and she ran for the bathroom. Loud noises followed as she vomited up the remains of her egg salad sandwich and the diet coke she had eaten for lunch.

“Wow, you alright Love?” Nate asks as she walks out of the bathroom staggering slightly.

“No, I’m not…I feel sick… and not ‘I’m preggers’ sick either…” she muttered collapsing by his side. Still pale with sweat on her forehead.

“Should we run you to the docs? See what’s up with you and baby?” He puts a hand on her stomach and rubs in small circles “Can’t be too careful you know?” he smiled at her, pulling her close.

“Sure, first thing in the mor--guhggrr” she sputtered as she leaned over and threw up in his jackets pocket.

“Oh we are definitely calling a doctor…” he said as she retched again.

--The next morning--

Nate and Myra head to the hospital without an appointment.

“Sir, do you need something?” The lady at the desk says looking mildly annoyed.

Nate whispers to Myra, “Damnit, I forgot to call ahead” then looks over to the clerk ‘Janet’ is the name on her tag and says, “Yeah, uh, we have to see the Dr. Marian.”

Janet replies in an even more annoyed tone, “Well, I can see that. Do you have an appointment?”

Nate answers, “Well, I-“

Myra butts in, “Look, you don’t want to annoy a pregnant, super-powered woman, do you?”

The clerk replies, “No, but you-“

Myra cuts her off, “No ‘buts’. Get me Doctor Marian.”

“But she’s-“

“NOW!” and with that Myra leans over and vomits into Nate’s freshly washed jacket….again.

--Outside Dr. Marian’s office Nate sits and waits reading the two year old issue of ‘Highlites’ trying, without luck, to find a way out the maze 'Damn how the hell are you supposed to figure this out??'--

--3 hours later—

Nate stands as Myra comes out of the office in tears and rushes into Nate’s arms. “Something wrong, Love?”

Myra sobs into his shoulder “I lost the baby!”
Nate looks at her shocked and holds her as she continues to cry.

--One week later at their apartment--

A man knocks on the door. No answer. The man knocks again louder.

Nate yells back, “What?! I’m kinda busy! Come back later!”

The knocking stops and there is the sound of keys.

’Oh crap is the manager’ Nate sighs and goes to the door, yelling as he opens it, “What?!” He was right, the apartment landlord. Nate sighs and says, “Sorry, sir.”

The landlord says angrily, “Where’s the rent? It’s three weeks over due plus you haven’t paid last months either or the fire damage to the stairs you did comin in drunk from the bar thing!!”

Nate replies, “Oh, damn yeah” he rubs the back of his neck nerviously “How much was that again?”

“300 bucks, bucko, plus the rent for two months get you and your weird girl friend over the top at 1200 smackers owed.” He says in a curt voice

“Yeah um…about that…see I just lost my…” Nate starts

The landlord, interrupts, “You’ve got till the end of the week to make the cash or you’re on the streets...” and with that he turns on his heel and walks off leaving Nate with the job of telling Myra the bad news

--Two days later—

Nate and Myra are unable to find work and head to the school’s dorm assignment office.

Gemini looks up at two of them, “Hello Myra, Nate. What can I help you with?”

Myra looks at the ground speaking first, “We want to move back into the dorms. We can’t pay for the apartment anymore.”

Gemini sighs and tells them sternly, “This isn’t a hotel you know, and you’re both in a lot of trouble as it is. You have over twenty-five missed assignments and Nate, when was the last time you were even in class young man?”

Nate and Myra look at each other and realize that they were too caught up in their personal live that they had forgotten to go to school half of the time. They reply simultaneously, “We know.”

Gemini says, “I’m sorry, but why should we allow you to come back and stay in the school when you both have neglected so much responsibility and work?”

“Well…we were so caught up with the baby” Myra sniffs slightly but her face doesn’t change “and work and trying to plan the wedding…I know I didn’t bother to worry about school but Myra did at least. Can you let her back in?”

Gemini sighs “Look…Maybe I can arrange something for the both of you, but you know we don’t allow couples to room together and you will have to work very hard to make up for all the work you have missed, you especially Nate.”

“Wait… you mean we can?” Myra looked at Nate hopeful

Gemini smiles wryly “Yes, yes, you can both return, but if either of you misses a class or turns in a late paper it’s the boot for the two of you, understand?”

They smile and thank the woman repeatedly and return to their apartment to get their things.

--Back at the apartment—

As they stuff clothing into boxes Nate says to Myra, “I guess its all uphill from here...”

Myra sighs and shakes her head in agreement.

Nate grabs the phone and calls ‘The Gravitical Movers’ to come move their boxes of stuff back to the school’s dorms.

--Back at the dorms after the movers are done two days later—

Nate meets Myra in between the girls and boys dorm. “Sure we can’t be together 24-7 now... But... It’s for the best. We needed somewhere to stay.”

Myra sighs in agreement and hugs Nate. “I know, maybe someday we can graduate and move on but for now I have math first period see ya at lunch!"
