The file laid on the desk in front of the headmaster. Diyar breathed calmly and steadily, knowing full well the contents of the file from his old school. It was strange the way it had been kept-or rather, destroyed. But, it was what he had been given, and so he gave it here, as proof of who he was...
Student Information File - Diyar Atashband Delavar**
Seacliff School
**Please note: Diyar is this student's common name. It has been revealed that his true nam[censored]. EDIT: [censored]**
Name: Diyar Atashband Delavar
DOB: September 23, 1992
Age: 15
Initial notes: Student is very reserved. Spoke only when necessary and asked directly. Mother revealed cause for transfer to SC School; loss of control over powers during a fight with classmates. Possible liability. Being admitted under [censored].
Semester Review: Diyar has stayed very much to himself over the three months he has been here. Very few friends. Has been discovered that his "powers" are magic in nature, and somehow tied to his name. Being Kurdish, it is likely some sort of mysticism passed down through tradition. There seems to be [censored]
Update: Student admitted to infirmary with multiple burns on body. Unresponsive to questioning. Seems to be in a trance. Girl that admitted student claimed that she saw a word in a journal, that when said, caused the boy to igni[censored]
Diyar shuddered, remembering that night. She had discovered his secret...the way to control him. It had taken a week before he recovered, and even then, he had changed. He destroyed the journal, and never introduced himself by that name again, his mother's words always haunting him in the back of his mind.
To call someone a name is to give him power. But to know the true name of one is to have control of that person. Be careful who you reveal your name to. Remember...the Kurds have no friends...
Be careful...easier said than done.
"So tell me, Diyar...why were you transfered to Seacliff in the first place? It says you lost control during a fight...what happened?"
Diyar sighed, the memory still burned into his mind. "There was a terrorist bombing last year...you probably heard of it. The people responsible were middle-eastern." Diyar clenched his fist, still enraged. "Word got around school that my family is Iraqi...I don't know who started that, we're Kurds, but still...They began to tease me, call me..." Diyar paused, choosing the PROPER words to say... "very bad things...I threw the first punch. The fight got out of control, and I just got angrier and angrier. I didn't stop until my fists were covered with flames. I...I almost...I could have killed him..." Diyar shook his head, remembering the look of fear on the poor boy's face. He looked up at the man behind the desk, trembling. "My name has been passed down for 23 generations. The first born of each generation is expected to take up the name and the powers associated with it, to be a hero for our people. My father was the last Sh..." Diyar's voice trailed off, remembering to be careful not to say the name. "Well...the last 'Sunfire.' Before me, there have been 23 'Sunfire Dervishes,' warrior monks who help protect our people from harm. I am the next in line..."
Diyar paused, remembering what his mother told him about his father. "Father...was a great man, a true hero of the people. Then...the first Gulf War broke out. He...he gave his life to help evacuate the village my family lived in. My mother escaped to America, where I was born. She gave me the name...as tradition dictated. After the fight...she sent me to Seacliff to learn to control it...but then after the incident...she didn't know where to send me..."
The man smiled, then closed the file. "Well, you'll be glad to know that a few of your classmates from Seacliff are here as well. I wish the timing was better...but still...once things get back to normal, I believe you will feel right at home here."
Diyar nodded, smiling. "Thank you, sir." He got up, shaking the head master's hand, and then left the office.
Later that night, Diyar was in the bunker, looking through an old photo album of his family.
I hope they are allright...
OOC: Diyar, as I introduced him in game, goes by that nickname. His real name is a secret that he shares only with those he can trust unconditionally. His powers stem from his name, and the moment a child is born in the NEXT generation, he will lose his powers as he trains the new Sunfire Dervish. He is the 24th bearer of the name, but has had his powers thrust on him very rapidly, since his father had died before he was born, and thus was unable to gradually teach him to use his power. He will keep mostly to himself, unless he feels someone can be trusted.

I11 update (wow, I had to go searching for this...man...):
Diyar has adjusted pretty well in the 3 months that he's been at SJS. Without a lot of the structure and safeties in place at Seacliff, Diyar slowly began to blackout more and more and for longer periods of time, until Sam finally told him to sit out and not patrol. He finally found his good friends Brianna and Stephen, and had at one point had a small liking to Layla Stevens. However, from the first day he met his roommate Arkady's sister, Myshka, he's been going on dates here and there and getting closer to her until just recently when they kissed for the first time and decided to officially be a "couple." Still, the blacking out causes a lot of fear for Diyar, especially since it seems to be affecting the ancient magic that is the source of his powers...
Also, editted his age to coincide better with how old I wanted him, as well as to make sense for his family fleeing genocide in Iraq.

i15 update:
Diyar has begun to settle down at SJS, and is now dating Elly (Spark Princess). He was on the football team in the fall (in a ploy to try and retake his cool-kid status he enjoyed at Seacliff) and wound up enjoying it much more than he thought he would. He has plans to try out for the team again, and is spending the summer (when he's not in class or with Elly) working to build up his strength to balance out with his speed. He's made good friends with ex-Panther Damian Singleton (which is good since they share a room). He has also begun to tap more fully into the ancient magic that supplies him his power. His black-outs have become fewer and far between as his mastery over his powers increases, but he does still go under when circumstances become too great for him to handle.
