In the emergency room of Chiron Medical Center, a sharp alarm sounded. A lab coated doctor looked up from his paperwork as a nurse scrolled through the data readouts.
"We've got another superhero incoming. On your toes, people."
The linked computer system beeped as it pulled up a file.
"Name: Emily Parker. Age: 17. Affiliation, Saint Joseph's School. Class, Chemically enhanced kineticist. Preliminary MedBadge analysis indicates multiple possible fractures, caustic smoke inhalation damage, and heat damage."
"Has she filed a metabolic analysis form with us?"
"Accessing now, Doctor."
The doctor down at the electronic clipboard as the nurse transferred the file. He frowned as he quickly scrolled through the lengthy document.
"I don't know what this girl is using, but it isn't any of the stuff I've normally seen in use. We're going to need to get her stabilized, but we're going to have to be careful with what we dose her with."
The teleporter unit in the room sounded a series of sharp alerts as it activated, and almost immediately thereafter, Em appeared inside the unit, held in stasis by the field.
"All right. Let's get to work..."
First Impressions: Toxic Kinetics

Voltaic Em
A soft beeping and the whirring of machines brought Em back to the waking world. She opened her eyes slowly, and groaned. The room was white, and bright. Tubing across her nose forced clean air into her lungs.
Slowly, she sat up. The room spun around her until she leaned back against the seat. Her leg ached slightly still, but after a few exploratory stretches, she realized that the miracles of modern medicine had healed it without a problem.
Which left her wondering why she was waking up in a hospital bed, and not walking out of the receiving room like she normally did after these kind of trips. A needle was taped into each arm, bringing blood out one arm, circulating it through the machine, and returning it into the other arm. This was definately not a normal trip to the hospital.
The door opened, and she looked over to see a nurse coming in. The woman smiled at her. "So, you're finally coming around. That's good. Let me just check your vitals and then I'll go get the Doctor." A few minutes of poking and prodding and measurements followed, and then the nurse slipped back out the door.
Em sighed and looked around the room. The other bed in the room was empty, and on closer inspection she noticed that all of the electronics were heavily insulated. Obviously they didn't want to run the risk of her drawing power from the machines and interrupting whatever it was they were doing.
The door opened in again, and a young looking man in a white lab coat walked in.
"Emily Parker?" She nodded. "I'm Doctor Evans. How are you feeling this morning?"
Morning?
"Wha-what's goin' on here?" she asked, voice cracking slightly as she spoke. She rose one arm off the bed slightly, indicating the needle in the vein.
"You inhaled a large amount of chemicals in the smoke from the explosion. Unfortunately, they were causing several dangerous interactions with the chemicals that you use to enhance your powers. In order to treat you, we needed to filter your blood, to remove any residual chemicals. If we medicated you before, we ran the risk of doing more harm than good."
"Okay...so I can leave now, right?"
"Well, your vitals are finally stabilizing, and the filtering process is almost complete. I'd like to keep you for another day, let your system recover a bit, and make sure we don't have any more problems."
Em sighed.
"We've already contacted your school. They will make arrangements for you to make up your lessons from today."
"Fine. Whatever. It's not like I can walk out of here in this stupid hospital gown, and I get the feeling I'm not going to get my clothing back until you say I can leave anyways." Doctor Evan's chuckled in response.
"I'll be back to check in on you this afternoon. The nirse will be in to get you unhooked from the machine as soon as the process finishes." He smiled at her and turned to walk out the door.
Em settled back in the bed with an annoyed huff, and searched for the remote control. Maybe there'd be something to distract her on TV...

She finally got the story that Em had been transported to Chiron, and immediately gathered a few things that Em always carried. Paula smirked as she packed it all. Maybe it wasn't everything, but she had a great memory, and watched her best friend pack, every morning. With a sigh, she left a note for Amy, explaining the girl in her bed tonight was a guest, and not herself, and to please let her sleep.
A running jump, and the girl hurdled through the air like some sort of 1980's shoe commercial, after negotiating security at the Gate, she jumped her way to Chiron, where she once again had to deal with security. Although, this time, it only earned her audience wth a nurse. After a few hours of arguing, she finally got to see a doctor, who was adamant that Em not be disturbed.
"I ain't leavin'," the latin teen planted herself. "So, let me know when she's good for company. I don't want trouble, and won't be none, so long as I know she's alright."
"Fine, Miss Sanchez," the doctor replied. "I hope you don't mind our reception area's furnishings. It's the best we can offer you."
With a huff the girl sat. As she sat, Pally nodded off and hardly realized she was waking up, the next morning. A *DING!* snapped her attention to the elevator, and the latin girl smirked. Hopping up, she non-challantly made her way across to the elevator, and entered after allowing the hero to pass. It took a few tries, but, listening to doctors and nurses finally revealed the floor she needed.
Arriving on the floor, Paula snuck her way around, reading the name slots by each door. This was going to be a bit of a search, but still one she was going to do, regardless. Finally, after sneaking past a nurse's station, she found Em's room. Testing the door, she slipped in, all the while the nurses silently giggled at one another, having gotten the word that visitations were now allowed for Miss Parker.
"Em," Pally asked as she slid into the room. "You wake, 'miga?"

Em had been resting with her eyes closed, when she heard the telltale sound of her short latina roommate trying to sneak into the room. She decided not to enlighten her roommate to the fact that visitors had been allowed in to see her. Em knew Paula well enough to know that she was probably quite pleased with her achievement. Why spoil it?
Em opened her eyes and looked over.
"Hey, Pally. Snuck in to rescue me from boredom?" Em smiled, despite the fact that she was still hooked up to numerous tubes and that annoying filtration machine. Already, she was cringing at the amount of work it would take to recondition her powers back up to full efficiency. Hopefully, it would only be a small setback. Hopefully.
"So, is Winston blaming me for the chem lab blowing up again?"
Em opened her eyes and looked over.
"Hey, Pally. Snuck in to rescue me from boredom?" Em smiled, despite the fact that she was still hooked up to numerous tubes and that annoying filtration machine. "I'm really sorry you got hurt, I never meant for anything like that to happen... I'm, I'm really sorry and I hope you get all better... And, um, I brought you this Get-Well Bear!" She finished holding out the little brown bear that was itself holding a little sign saying "Get Well!"

"Actually, given the amount of time I've spent in detention since I've gotten here, I cartainly can imagine the kind of detention you get for blowing up the chem lab. Lemme jus' say, those penguins can get downright devious when it comes to keeping you busy." Em grinned up at the girl, reaching out to take the bear from her, and set it beside her on the bed.
"And as for all this..." she raised her arms to indicate the tubes. "Well, this is more along the lines of a result of my file with them not being complete. They patched up the broken leg and ribs pretty quickly." It's not like she hadn't followed the directions on the paperwork. It asked her to list all chemical supplements used on a regular basis. How was she supposed to know that if it wasn't standard medications they'd actually want a full description of what it does?
"By the way, I'm Emily, but you can call me Em. I didn't exactly get a chance to introduce myself earlier." Em tilted her head over to Palilla. "And this sneaky little chica is my roommate and number one gal, Pally."

Pally nodded to the newcomer, still not pleased at the statement they all needed babysitting. It was obvious this girl did too, if that was the case.
"Hola," Pally said trying to sound conversational. "I was just going to tell Em how me an' Obisidan saved her from the collapsed roof... Pretty funny, actually."

Jayna smiled as Em took the bear from her, but froze as she turned to Pally and really looked at her for the first time since entering the hospital room.
She was in the classroom! That means she heard whatever it was HE said! Jayna thought as an expression of mixed fear and horror spread across her face. What am I going to do about this? This is horrible!

She leaned forward slightly until she was sitting up straight, and looked over at Jayna. "I agree with Pally. I think you'd do great with the rest of the Q6 girls, and it so happens that we still have an empty bed..."
Em's face turned mock serious. "I do have one question for you, though. Do you think more of those idiots in black are going to be coming after you, or did we scare them away for good?"

Palilla stopped, and burst out laughing.
"Not as much as me for picking da lock ta begin wit! Shoot, girl! Joo're wit Q-Seis, now!"
This girl was alot different from in the classroom. Blue or not, Paula was starting to like her. She walked over and held out her hand in a gesture for a handshake, but pulled the girl to her for an informal, platonic hug.

"Oh, hey," Jayna said to the newcomer. "Um, I should get going now, not only do I have loads of detention already, and probably more to come," she shot Palilla and Em a little grin for that comment, "but I have to get myself registered as a hero, and properly enrolled into SJS, and get my uniform, and..." Jayna's brow furrowed at this point, as if she was deep in thought. "Well I know there's something I'm missing, which will probably end in more detention, but who cares right?" She finished with a smile.
"I'll see you girls back Home," turning to Em and getting slightly more serious Jayna continued, "and you get better Em."
With a smile and wave Jayna looked out the window then, *thwump*, disappeared.
