"Hey Fire this is Joe my...err "pet" mantis...*His voice trails off as Fire stares intently at the content insect munching some lettuce on his shoulders*

"Yes of course I will replace your meal Tiffany" *he pulls back his jacket arm and opens another small hatch and withdraws a few bills* "I dont know how much it was so heres $100.00. Is that enough? I have more if it isnt."

*Everyone stares at the clump of cash Mana pulls from his arm* "I have no real use for money other then school suppies and tools and some oil here and there so I just save it."

*Bryan gives off a low whistle* "Hey you might want to keep that in a bank or something Mana. Its not safe to keep so much cash on hand..err arm."

"Oh really? I didnt know that..." *quickly tucks the money away" "Um so I'll finish with my hand while Joe finishes Tiffs salad and you finish your chips then I'll run Joe to the quad before class. Unless you want me to remove Joe now...Hes really quite nice when you get to know him"

*Joe finishes the lettuce and rubs up against Mana's face plate making a small humming sound*

Nick blinks a few times staring at Mana and Joe.

"Mana! That's a lot of money but where did you get Joe? Praying Mantis are notorious predators. I have NEVER heard of a herbivorous mantis before. Is he a lab escapee?"

Tiffany sits wide eyed and somewhat bewildered as Mana hands her the money.
" no .. no its ok really... I'm sure Joe didn't eat much anyways... here take it for him , i'll just share the salsa ... I have this bag of chips too some crazed chick in the hall forced on me this morning along with a coke... I'm fine really."
tiffany hands back the money and looks over at Nick and Bryan , the bewildered look still there.
" Salads don't cost much. Hey Bryan , thanks for sharing the salsa , theres plenty for all of us it looks like. Aeon you having some too? "
She opens the bag of chips and places it on the table from her bookbag along side those offered by Bryan.

Aeon watches the scene unfold in silence, left eyebrow slowly arching up her forehead.

"Um...no thanks, Bryan, I'm all set." She pulls a bottle out of her backpack: some fortified fruit smoothie of a reddish-purple color. Its recycled paper label reads, "B Monster."

"I've been okay, Nick," she responds after some delay, running a thumbnail under the bottle's plastic seal and popping the cap off. "You know, the usual." She sips. "They're kicking me out of Algebra 2, though."

Nick knots his eyebrows. "Why? Have your absences got you behind already?"

"Nope." She grins wryly. "Too smart. Apparently I need to take Trigonometry instead." She sips at her drink again. "Wish I could say the same for Biology..." She hunches a bit as she trails off, hoping someone will change the subject.

"Hes very intelligent" *bring a finger up and scratchs Joes head to which the small insect hums louder*

As shes crossing the cafeteria to her table with Jack , Tolli and the gang , Kali sees Mana and stops with a grin.
" Hey this is for you!"
She hands him a coke and continues on to her table.

*looks to see Kali walking by* "Here this is for you" *hands him a soda with the word Coke on the side and walks on* "Um thank you.."
"what am I supposed to do with this? She gave me a bag of something called Chips but I cant use whatever Chips they are for my systems"
*hands soda to Tiffany* "here please take this as mine and Joes apology for ruining your salad*

Taking the coke from Mana with a grin Tiffany pops it open and sips followed by a carbonated hiccup.
"Oh gosh... *laughs* Excuse me! Didnt mean to be rude. "
She blushes lightly and turns to mana,
" thanks again and really the salads no biggie"

The mouse zips into the lunchroom holding a small paperbag. He looked about, absent-mindedly smoothing his rumpled school jacket, until he spots Kali. In a blur of motion he runs though the room towards her, but stops suddenly as he passes one of the tables and sees something new. "Wha is that's, please?" he says to Mana pointing at the mantis....

A rainy Friday afternoon, found Bryan walking into the cafeteria. It was a little early for lunch, the huge dining hall was still relatively quiet.

Bryan sat down at an empty table and placed his paper bag down. He took out a plastic carton and chopstick. Along side his food he held a thick book open with his free hand, so he could read as he ate.

Alice wanders into the lunch room with a large plastic bag. Finding a corner table she sits down by herself and pulls out three foot long sub sandwiches, a large bag of chips, a 2 liter of diet caffein free soda, a bag of rice crackers, and a small chocolate bar. Sighing she smiles weakly and begins her loansome lunch watching people from behind her goggles.

gawd wheres a stupid boy when you need one !
Kali grunted as she pushed two of the lunchroom tables together.
Reaching into her backpack she pulls out two large checkered table cloths and lays them neatly across the tables.
Silently pointing at different spots on the table she thinks for a moment.

Raising a finger to her lips and tapping thoughtfully she reaches into the back pack again and retireves several small gladlock containers. She arranges them on the table, stops, rearranges and then sits at the table with a smile.

In the center of the table she places several packs of hotdog buns, some chips, a jar of relish , adn a large container of mango - pineapple salsa.

The table is now set, food placed neatly in a row in front of her and she waits for arriving lunch hunters to share in her mid-winter picnic.

Sean finishes going through the cafeteria lunch line and looks around for a table. There's not much available, but he does notice a nice, quiet table off to one side of the room. He waks over and sets his tray down on the table and unpacks a few books from his backpack. Setttling in to his usual lunchtime routine, Sean starts to alterantely eat the mystery meat special and read a few pages in a paperback book.

With her normal loping stride, Stasis makes for the end of the cafeteria line. Halfway there however she spots the checkerboard layout and the air is split with a whoop. Turning on an economical heel, she ninety degrees to Kali and the relish.

"Awright! Is it my birthday?"

Stasis puts a fist on her cocked hip and inspects the table with a blink and a frown.

"Kali, where's the dog part? If you want me to have salsa on a bun, I'm going to waste away to nothing in no time flat."
