Sister Mary Martha

Sister Mary Martha is a quiet, young nun who serves as a substitute teacher at Saint Joe's. Students tend to enjoy having her as a substitute because, quite bluntly, she is utterly incompetent.

An example of her incompetence: Last year she was subbing for a geometry class. She was supposed to be teaching proofs related to triangles but somehow ended up spending the entire class trying to draw a perfect circle. Most of her attempts more resembled amoebas than circles, though a few inspired tries approached warped ovals. The class spent most of the time trying not to laugh too loudly.

At present (until mid January, 2007), she is serving as a long-term substitute for Mrs. Williams, covering her home economics and driver's education classes. She's already needed to have two sewing machines replaced and a small fire put out in an oven. Enrollment for driver's education has dropped sharply, perhaps in part due to rumors that Sister Mary Martha doesn't actually have a driver's license of her own.

Fortunately, Sister Mary Martha has no superpowers.

With Mrs. Williams' return in mid March, Sister Mary Martha is no longer serving as a long-term substitute for home economics and driver's education. She is once again serving as a substitute for other classes as needed, much to the joy of many students who enjoy an easy class and a good laugh.
