Fireworks (Open to all)

Malcolm had really hoped he had gotten the word out enough. He wasn't going to do anything so flashy as put flyers up, but he had made it clear to his friends that everyone was invited to this little pseudo-picnic, and hoped that social networking would do the rest. Maybe there was some other July Fourth get-together, and noone told him?
He hoped not.
Mal sat on a blanket in one of the grassy areas near City Hall in Atlas Park. It was a little past sundown, and in a little over an hour the yearly Independence Day fireworks show would begin. A cooler filled with various soft drinks sat nearby, and while Malcolm certainly wasn't the culinary type, a barbeque grill was close at hand just in case anyone felt like using it.
Malcolm opened up a Sprite, and waited to see if anyone would show.
He hoped not.
