**UPDATE: i14
Sam is now 17 and a licensed driver in Paragon, thanks to Jules' unofficial driving school. Her grades have improved some, from employing her network as friends as tutors. She's currently in a relationship with and head over heels for Anthony Kite, her longtime best friend turned boyfriend. She's distraught over his decision to go to school in UCLA, but at the same time, is very supportive and wants whatever is best for him.
She is still a place kicker on the Flyers football team, and this season scored her first touch down, which she credits as "the highlight of my career." She still works part time at the PBS movie theater as a ticket taker and plans to increase her hours after Tony returns to California, as well as volunteer more time at Vis Viva's history museum to pay him back for helping her pass Chemistry this semester. She's still best friends with Vesper Fiend, and the two have yet to be successful in their endeavor to get mugged. Her father remains in prison, but is due for review by the parole board this year.

I'm 14, and my name's Samantha Douglas, Sam or Sammy, it's all good. I’m pretty sure my Dad always wanted a boy, but then again, if we all got what we wanted, I’d be chilling somewhere arctic with a snowboard in one hand and a warm-you-up beverage in the other. But since we don’t, he got himself a girl, and I lived in muggy Memphis rather than somewhere snowbound. So I skateboard a lot to make up for it. Anyway, my soccer coach dubbed me Blitzen ‘since before the whole freak gene showed up, and then it kinda made sense to keep it after. I mean, a blitz means to destroy or demolish, and yeah- that’d be me.
I knew when I hit thirteen, I’d likely be clumsy or awkward for a bit, but crud, I was like a bull in a china shop, and it just kept getting’ worse. Doors got unhinged, tables got broke, things got smashed and though I didn’t look no different or stronger, I was like a brick wall, barely anything hurt me.
That came in kinda handy. See my Dad- he’s not a bad guy, it’s just, he doesn’t always use the best judgement, y’know? S’why he’s in prison right now. He made a few bad choices. Okay, a lot of them. More than once, I had to put the hurt on some two-bit thug looking to do the same to my Pop, because he seemed to always be trying to con over one of his bosses. And one time I stopped him from biting a bullet, so it's good to know at least my hide's relatively lead proof. Prison- it’s the best place for ‘em, I can’t always be there to protect him, know what I mean? I love him and all, it’s just that I don’t want to end up like him s’all.
He got busted trying to pull off a small time robbery- he swears he was set up, but I think it was more like he just wasn’t good at it. So I went to live with my Aunt Karen. She means well, really. She kept coming up with these insane herbs and methods to “cure” me. We ended up in some doctor’s office- he was a geneticist, I think. Anyway, there was a long technical explanation he came up with dealing with gravity- I read it enough times to memorize what his report- how “each particle of matter attracts each other with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.” Well, somehow, my particles of matter have a disportional force. My matter's all messed up. Short version? I can take a hit like nobody’s business. Aunt Karen just didn’t get it. I mean, I like bein' a freak. A couple of weeks ago, I was hit by a car when I darted into the street. I dented the hell out of the car, and walked it off. Too bad my Pop wasn’t around to see it- I’m now a con man’s dream child. I could prolly lift a bus if I wanted. No norm had anything on me, and walking on eggshells around them all the time sorta got on my nerves, and that’s what worried me. I didn't wanna snap or anything, start hurtin' people that didn't deserve bein' hurt. I don’t want to end up like my pop, watching over my shoulder or sitting in a jail cell. And that’s what’d happen. In a few years, my dad’ll get out and I’d be right back where I started, Bonnie to his Clyde. Yeah- it was always to protect him or to pull his bacon out of the fire, but it didn’t make it right.
So when the freak doctor gave me a number to St. Joes, I called just to talk, and right then and there, I knew I found my out. My grades sucked, but I was still able to get a scholarship, and I'm gonna get a part time job somewhere to pay for extra expenses. Anyway, that's about the whole shebang on Blitzen.
OOC: Sam lost her mother when she was young, so she’s pretty mature for the age of 14, seeing as she’s always been the one to take care of her father and clean up his messes. She loves him and truly wishes he’d change, but she also realizes that’s not about to happen. In Paragon for the first time, she’s still getting used to the different abilities of others, so she sometimes gets a little freaked out, but tries not to show it. She’s also learning that the baddies she’s fighting in Paragon aren’t much like the norms back home in Memphis, they hit a lot harder and use weapons she’s not used to- electric, mind freaking, things like that. She’s a bit on the quiet side until you get to know her. Also- this the first tank toon I’ve played and I’m still getting used to how to tank- so I’ll apologize in advance if anyone eats asphalt on account of my lack of skills. I also use too many comma’s when I write.
**UPDATE (i10)
Sam's adjusted well and loves calling St. Joseph's "home." She's made some incredible friends, a few of which she'd give her life or at least a kidney for if the need arose. She and Eddie Amplitude earned their level 50 Pins during the invasion, and she's since spent a fair share of time with the Vanguard. Despite the war, she's managed to maintain a silver lining disposition about most things, and still enjoys hanging around the hot tubs and just goofing off.
Her friends are mostly happy she's learned how to pronounce the word "Mortificator".
**UPDATE (i11)
Jeez, so much has happened. Let's see... okay, I'm still in the Cadet Vangard Corps, only now, I'm going for my third stripe on account of I think I do pretty well in the field, as far as tanking goes, I mean, so hopefully soon all my time accrued and all that will be enough for it, and I'm still skating, only now I tried actual inline skates instead of just boarding and I haven't really hurt myself yet but then again that might be on account of I'm a tank, and I still like sitting on my tail at the park or at the hot tub but I'll run in the Warzone when stuff is going on or when it looks like they could use a hand, and my dad, he should be up for parole soon on and I have sorta mixed feelings about it, I mean it'll be good, on account of he's a good guy and all, but I get a little nervous about thinking on him being on the outside again 'specially if I'm not there to take care of him, on account of sometimes he makes goofy choices about stuff. (breathes) Ves is still one of my best friends, she and me have been through a ton together now and I'm still real happy she got sent here of all places, and Artie is an amazing guy too, me and Iowa still hang out even though he's got these dopey ideas about the Vanguard, but then again, so does my best friend from school, Bryan Baxter, who's really an awesome guy only don't tell him that on account of he's already got an ego half the size of Montana, but I wouldn't change him for the world. Me and Eddie are still going out and he's an awesome guy too and I'm really lucky I got to know him as good as I did on account of he watches out for me like nobody's business. As far as the rest of the school goes I told someone once they were like my family and they still are, on account of I see so much of 'em, and it's okay if you don't so much get along with all of your family, the fact is that they'd be there for you if you needed them, and I'd do the same for them and everyone went and proved that when the Rikti bastards were attacking a couple of months ago, and it sucks that it took something like that to show me how everyone's all stuck together and what not, but I'm real glad they are just in case anything happens. I'm a starter on the Flyers football team, a Placekicker, and I'm gonna try out for baseball again this year and maybe field hockey again depending on how I'm doing with school and all in the springtime when they start up. I really think that's about it, 'cept I got a C- in math this quarter and that's like the best I've done in math ever, so I need to go and buy a box of candy or some Cokes or something for all the people who spent their time tutoring me, as soon as I can find someone to scrub the money off of.

Hey, thanks for the welcomes!
Kali- was great meetin' up at the hot tub, and spicy food s'always appreciated, as is a Coke!
Jase- you're an AMAZING singer. I still say if you weren't already a pro, you'd so win American Idol. Thanks for the song!
Fire- Thanks, appreciated! ((And your bio is cool too!))
Francis- I heard a little 'bout Tolliver, and I'm sure I'll meet up with 'em somewhere at somepoint.
Erika- you give great tours, and seein' the local haunts would be great, thanks!
Glacial- Wouldn't miss it. Talk about a Clash of the Titans!
Barrier- I never played field hockey, but I did play ice and street as a kid. Is it basically the same?
Thanks again, y'all. My first days here've been great.

Yeah, show up on Thursday. It's easy for Glace to say it's going to be great, he just pushes other big guys around, or gets to hit the other team. I'm the one that winds up getting clobbered by some knuckle dragger looking to take my head off!
Welcome to Freak High, Blitzen. The rest of em can show you around town, and stuff, let me know, and I'll show you the best ways to avoid the penguin patrol when you need to come back to campus late.

Trust me, you'll be great. All you got to do is help Barrier keep the other team's ankle-mashers away from me while I pot some goals.Blitzen wrote: I never played field hockey, but I did play ice and street as a kid. Is it basically the same?
You've got to come out for soccer too! Basically the same drill, but without the sticks.

Hey Sammy!
It was amazing running into you before I even got my stuff moved to SJS. You try to work with these government types and what happens? They send you looking for an office that doesn't even exist!
It blows my mind that a tiny little gal like you is out there taking a beating and giving it back like there's no tomorrow. Busting heads no less! Just remind me not to arm wrestle with you. Also remind me not to stereotype.
I see you more outside school grounds that on them. Trouble is, when I'm at the school I'm usually studying or in a lab somewhere. Oh well.
Later!
