Sister Mary Hilde, of the Cupertino Order, is the teacher of Religious Knowledge classes. The first year of the class is not required but is very strongly suggested to all the students at St. Joseph's. The course exists at four distinct levels, beginning with catechism class in the first year, history and doctrine of the faith in the second, basic Latin and Greek exegesis of the Christian Bible in the third, and classic 'Sic et Non' doctrinal debate in the fourth.
Sister Mary Hilde appears to be between sixty and seventy years of age. As a special dispensation, she wears the full Carmelite habit, which includes a white surplice cloak and full wimple, instead of the Cupertino habit. She has a kind demeanor and a marked enthusiasm for her subject.
She has a light German accent and is very world-traveled. She came to St. Joseph's School in the early 1990s.
