[Well Infinity is the "Unofficial" Taxi server... And that's all we need... Though I do like to PvP, villains tend to have an upperhand on this server... (Though Nate can solo a brute (Well... some types of brutes...)) I don't really care if we come in first, but its my home server... If it gets flooded, I blame Mimi for my vote 'cause I never knew 'bout this...]

I am obviously against Infinity becoming a PvP server (unoffical or otherwise). The impact it would have on the community of players we have would be drastic and I think, unfortunate.

That said.

+1 for Freedom.

Ummm... Nate how much pvp experience have you had on Infinity? Villians are woefully out numbered here. (Not to mention that all Villains are out gunned power wise in the later levels).

Head to Recluse's Victory with a Villian and try not to smash your head against the monitor in sheer anger.

By the way... soloing a "Brute" is not always a mark of accomplishment. ;)

I've been PvPin' all week this week (And alot more before that but not on Nate), and for all the time I've been in Siren's Call, villains have been outnumbered. [And I don't have a villain high enough or I would...]

The reason for that is, Bloody Bay is when Stalkers are at their strongest (in a sense). Siren's Call is basically Villains only real time when they are on par, if not slightly above Heroes in strength. When you hit Warburg and Recluse's Victory, you will find that Villains numbers not only drops incredibly, but also they don't sting as bad (Keep in mind I'm not saying Villains become pansies, I'm simply stating this is where you feel the drastic change in PvP). Seeing how once you hit 40+ the main PvP battleground is RV, you can quickly see how a badly inbalanced server pop can effect everyones enjoyment.

The idea of Infinity being overrun by PvPers horrifies me in a way few things do. I get enough half-spelled invites to help in PvP zones as it is...

+1 for Freedom and, with any luck, a few to follow.

A vote for something as an "unofficial" server, be it PvP or RP, I think is somewhat akin to a country having a national language, or perhaps even more accurately, like Congress voting for April to be National Chutney Month. Do people take notice of it? Of course. There will still be the those who speak Yiddish in Germany, and people who don't even know what chutney is.
I see where Mimi and the rest of you are coming from, and while I find this news significant, it's not a deal breaker. The Simian Defense Force was roleplaying before almost anyone else was, and long before PvP even existed in CoX. With the lamentable decline of the aforementioned SDF, SJS is now the premier shining example of an RP coalition consisting of *multiple* supergroups, on this or, I daresay, any other server. We are the Conglomerate of roleplaying. If PvP should be emphasized more on Infinity, it's not the end of the world. When a dozen Simians assembled under Atlas, it got people's attention. Heads turned. Recruits joined up. I say let them sneer, stare, gawk, and jibe to their PvP'ing hearts' content. When a new player or emigré from another server tires of butting heads in the PvP zones or in the Arena and craves more meaningful interaction, we will be there. We will grow, we will prosper, and thumb our collective noses at this half-assed notion of a "PvP server", official or otherwise.
To be one thing or the other in more than name requires that a server be dedicated as such from ground zero. Anything less is too little, too late.
With that said, I don't think I'm going out on a limb here by saying that we are some of the most populous and active supergroups on Infinity. We're certainly recognizable. The fact that SJS is an RP-oriented organization does not preclude our participation (non-mandatory, of course) in PvP. I know on the couple of occasions in which I took to the field with other Flyers, people took notice. The whole experience was enhanced when members of BVA were in the zone as well. RP-PvP is not such an outlandish notion as to not work. I designed August specifically to be dual-purpose-- a character that functions equally well at PvP as at PvE. Not stellar at either, mind you, but suitable to the task. This all melded seemlessly with her character concept and background as well.
Will such a thing work for every character and every concept? Certainly not. Is everyone in SJS interested in PvP, even remotely? Probably not. I think if the foremost roleplaying coalition on Infinity were to field a PvP team, though, it might go a long way towards establishing us as a force to be reckoned with. It might also help to win over those "armchair" PvP'ers, or those who PvP when they have nothing better to do-- the "closet roleplayers", if you will.

I did some quick searching on the official forums. Here's the thread where I'm assuming Mimi found this poll: Poll - Which Server for Live PvP

Let me quote the original poster:
Vote Here!!! Revised Poll

Can only vote once per IP. Keep it honest. PvPers ONLY!!! Please

Keep in mind this pole is for SG's thinking about cross server transfers to fill the pvp zones, and get arena activity.

please, only vote once if you have access from other computers such as at work or whatever. At the very least if you feel the need to be a richard and vote twice, pick two different servers. Thanks!
"PvPers ONLY!!!" makes it clear that they don't care what anyone else thinks. Nor do they care what impact their decision would have on the other players on that server.

Some of the people here have made great points as to why Infinity shouldn't be chosen as the unofficial PvP server. None of the Official Forums PvP crowd are reading this thread, though.

They are reading this thread, though.

Like I said, RPers and PvPers are like Oil and Water. We just don't mix.
