MAGI records: Transcript 20070916-413
Interview between Azuria and subject "Elly" (ADDENDUM: later determined to be Smith, Eleanor, see primary file)
Azuria: We're recording. Let's talk about why you're here.
Elly: Okay, yeah, you got me. I helped rob the warehouse. My foster parents were [CENSORED], so I ran away years ago, and I needed to eat. So I steal. And I make enough at the pawn shops and questionable sources all over the city to get by. That's about my whole life story. Now tell me how to change back already.
Azuria: And why the MAGI artifacts?
Elly: [audible exasperated noise] Because I got word that there was a good market for mystic stuff. And, well, let's be frank, your warehouses have a reputation for being easy targets.
Azuria: Well. And yet you failed in your attempt.
Elly: It's 'cause of these damn things. [At this point subject Elly raises her wrists, indicating she refers to the bracers.] I'm rooting through the crates for something valuable and when I pull my hands out they've on my wrists somehow. Three seconds later I look entirely different, complete with this ridiculous pink outfit to match the crazy hair. Then when I try to run for it, you guys seem to know exactly where I'm going, and I'm probably visible from space anyway in these colors, so of course I get caught. Are these some sort of burglar trap? A wizard's idea of a prank? What?
Azuria: Actually, those are the Bracers of Tian-Mu, formerly worn by Spark Princess Aurora.
Elly: Spark who?
Azuria: A hero who fell during the initial wave of the second Rikti invasion, although her death hasn't been officially publicized. MAGI had been keeping the bracers in storage until a successor could be found. That successor, apparently, is you.
Elly: Me? Why?
Azuria: They were the source of her power, and of several Spark Princesses before her, and they have a bit of a mind of their own. For whatever reason, they selected you to be the next in line, otherwise they wouldn't have activated and you wouldn't have taken on the appearance of the Spark Princess.
Elly: Well, that's bull. Tell them I don't want the job.
Azuria: It doesn't work like that. They don't change their mind once they've made their selection. You're the Spark Princess until you die.
Elly: ...you're got to be [CENSORED] kidding me.
Azuria: There are a lot of other people who aren't happy about it either, believe me, but the bracers do what they want. But right now you need to prove you're going to use your new power for heroic purposes, because if you plan to do otherwise, you're now officially dangerous enough to warrant Ziggursky incarceration instead of juvenile hall.
Elly: I don't want to do either, dammit! I want them off!
Azuria: Your movement will be restricted to the city for now. You'll be registered as a Security Level 1 hero, probationary. You'll also be attending Saint Joseph's High School--
Elly: A Catholic school?!
Azuria: A Catholic school for superpowered teenagers, which you'll be attending at the expense of MAGI and the city, to learn to use those, and hopefully to Do Unto Others as well. You'll be expected to report on your progress regularly as both a student and fledgling hero. If we don't like your progress, we can take other measures.
Elly: Look, you crazy--
Azuria: You'd be wise to take the offer. You've just been given a opportunity to turn your entire life around. Other disaffected superpowered youth have been put through the same programs and come out much the better for it. Still others never had the chance before they did something much more serious than burglary and couldn't take it back, and they're now serving life sentences in Ziggursky. Oh, and I'll remind you that we can pinpoint the bracers' location in 10 minutes with the proper spells, a feat you've already seen employed, so running is ill-advised. So I suggest you enjoy the fact that you're about to be handed a license to look for trouble. Don't abuse it.
Elly: ....."Spark Princess Elly"?
Azuria: Actually, Aurora really got into the role and would often go by "Pretty Spark Princess Aurora", but that's--
Elly: I am outta here.
Azuria: Let's put it this way: the bracers will be with you until death either way, but only one of the two options will teach you how to use them properly. Including how to change your appearance back when you feel like it.
Elly: [long pause] Lemme see those forms.

Something to keep in mind: "The Spark Princess" and Elly bear absolutely no resemblance to each other (and not in the sense of "I put on my glasses and no one will suspect I'm from the planet Krypton"). Anyone encountering the two forms separately will not recognize they are the same person unless told (or they've gotten familiar with Elly's speech patterns and mannerisms). Elly is fine with disassociating herself from her super persona, which she finds totally embarrassing, and will avoid talking about her powers at all whenever possible, much less the overly-pink appearance she takes when she uses them. Students who haven't teamed with her may take a while to catch on.
UPDATE: Although she was initially okay with admitting her secret identity to people she fought alongside ("hey, they're ALL kind of weird anyway; maybe they won't care?"), she got enough snickers to backpedal on that idea after revealing herself to about 10 or 12 students. Since then, she'll ask anyone not already aware of her power quirks if "a hero she knows" can come. This is probably doomed to failure -- the cat is already out of the bag, and the recent rumor mill entry isn't helping.

I'm just sortof curious about this detail. Does this mean that she's in one form for classes and stuff, and then another for patrol? How do you want us all to handle that, RP-wise?
Think Sailor Moon ;P (Sorry Elly had to XD)Mimi wrote:Hey Elly!Elly wrote:Something to keep in mind: "The Spark Princess" and Elly bear absolutely no resemblance to each other (and not in the sense of "I put on my glasses and no one will suspect I'm from the planet Krypton"). ((Exactly. She can't call on her powers without changing to the Spark Princess form, and she avoids being in that form whenever possible (in other words, whenever she doesn't need those powers).Mimi wrote:Hey Elly!

As for RP, assume that those who have never patrolled with her will think she always looks like her Elly-appearance. "Spark Princess" also might not tell anyone that does patrol with her that she's Elly, unless asked, but hmm, they wear the same distinct bracers all the time, so it's not exactly hard to put two and two together.))
((That's another way to put it, yeah.Pu-244 wrote:Think Sailor Moon ;P (Sorry Elly had to XD)

Hiya, Elly! I gotta pretty much echo what Sam said. I'm over in Quad 11 if you wanna look me up. Welcome to the school!

A basket filled with trail mix, a bottle of water, a note book with a picture of Malasie on the cover and a set of neon glow in the dark gel pens, is found taped to Elly's locker with a bow tied to a note:
