Hanging out after school

Post by Kris O'Sullivan »

Kris sipped her coke, and read the paper, as people filtered in and out of the City of Gyros in Atlas Park. It was amazing what one could see just sitting in a little shop like this. A couple in the corner were exchanging I-love-you's, and the guy behind the counter was talking sports and politics with three of his customers. Four of the nine tables had students from St J's hanging out, and chattering.

She could observe the world here, and nobody seemed to care. It was really comfy, yet solitary. And, even if Father Bob said it was defeating the purpose of hanging out, Kris liked this. Here, she was able to be with them, and yet not feel like she was intruding into their lives.

Wachabe sat on the roof of the chapel. Watching the students go by was some how theraputic. Nobody really payed attention to him up there, he could just think and watch the rest of the world go by.... it was... soothing.

Though there was a slight twing in the back of his mind...
I wonder what normal, super-teenage things they will be doing...

At the top of a thin building, a million miles above Terra Volta, Stasis sat and spoke poetry to the empty air. Far below the world turned gold, turned green, turned dark as the moon rose and the words followed its ascent, from memory and from the heart.

Not empty though, the air, although the moon didn't care in its eternal motion. Somewhere below he listened and somewhere below he saw the same darkness she did. It was enough then, for the moment. Enough then, for now.

A solitary figure sits atop the bridge in Founder Falls .
Her companion ... the hard concrete Lion mounted on the pillar she sits upon.
Watching the sail boats as they sail gracefully upon a waterfront that is seamingly calm . But she knows only yards away there is trouble awaiting her.
The cool misty breeze blows her dark cape around her , giving the appearance of wings encircling her petite frame.

For only a few minutes , the world is calm , and her thoughts are blank. Nothing to think about ,no worries , no cares .
Just a few quiet moments to watch the graceful sailing boats and feel the breeze.

Annie stretched out in her room, doing her morning excercises before class. Pookie was still tired from the night before; he had decided it would be a good idea to hide in the boy's locker room with Annie's translator, and she had a very hard time explaining what was going on before she had found him.

Giving Pookie a kiss, Annie pulled on the last of her jogging clothes and grabbed her iPod. She also switched off her translator so she could listen to what the humans heard. The makers of the translator were still unable to figure out a way to make music sound the same, and Annie had heard them enough to know what they were saying. Slipping quietly out the door, she flicked the on-button and headed for Perez Park.

Annie knew that now that she had finally healed enough for her flight glands to be able to catylize properly, but she had gotten used to running. It felt good to see where everything in this corner of the planet was, and she didn't see the details when she flew. Besides, she wanted to try some things in some of the abandoned buildings. The healing process had returned to her much stronger lysantium levels in her glands, and she wondered if her gymnastics practice could yield some interesting results...

Kali walks along the waterfron in Founders Falls, The misty breeze off the water feels cool and refreshing against her skin.
Watching the busy residents hustle and bustle thier way down the city sidewalks she smiles.
A smile too big to hide. it has been a long time since Kali smiled without forcing it. A clever front for her so others wouldnt know how she really felt.
But not today... today it was real .
Making friends finally has put her mind at ease and now she is feeling "special" to someone as well .
As she wanders the city streets with no place really in mind to go she sings quietly to herself .
Passers by glance and smile as the words trail off....

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a frist impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Repeating the portion of the song a few times Kali finally finds herself resting once again near the Lion statue . Her favorite place to hide. She leans back against it letting her legs dangle over the edge of the bridge.
Closing her eyes she sits back and lets the breeze run its unseen fingers thru her hair and smiles contently.

Kali stands at the Greenline Entrance in Talos. Classes are over and she started to head for Founders but as she stepped off the train something stops her.
The odor is unmistakable..... but how is she smelling it here?
The scent of coneydogs , french fries, and funnelcakes. Carnival food? here?

She looks around but sees nothing to implicate anearby carnival or fair.

Picking up her com and switching it to the broadcast channel for SJS she asks...

" Ok guys .... wheres the carnival at and hows come none of you asked me to go?"

The air is crisp , not too cool , that kinda crisp that makes you feel fresh , somewhat exhilarated inside.
The breeze coming off the waterfront adding a slight misty spray around her.
She always has been drawn to the water, ever since she was a little girl.
Hours spent doing nothing more than sitting and watching the waves. A calm , soothing place to relax and for a short bit forget all the turmoil that passes through her mind normally.
She stands alone on the beach, her dark hair swirling around her face as she closes her eyes to just feel. Nothing to worry about here. No infimrary visits , no friends in danger, no people to rescue....
Just the breeze , the water, the birds, and Kali.

For the moment she is alone. She spreads her arms out from her sides and remembers her visit to Otherworld with Oby and Light.
She imagines the feeling of actually flying. Not flying like she is normally able... but like them.... wings spread , the air passing through thier feathers making ruffling noises so quiet a normal human wouldnt notice.
She opens her eyes and hovers briefly as she peers around the surrounding beach. Nearby is a large rock and she heads slowly towards it, landing atop.
Here again she spreads her arms once more. The breeze is stronger here and she can feel the wind current shift as it swirls around the rock and her small body.
Smiling , she sits down .
Nothing special about this place. Just a place to forget the everyday problems and enjoy life.

Pally watches as the kids are gathered in an abandoned parking lot, playing stickball, a modified form of baseball for those living in urban areas. The boys are pretty decent, and do well, until an arguement breaks out over who got to base first. The catcher or the batter.

Stepping up, she offers to resolve the issue, but the boys make fun of her for being a girl. Nodding, she tells them to get their best pitcher, and if she can't hit his best pitch, she'll leave them alone. It all looked good, til one of the boys ran and got his older brother. His first pitch scorches past her, making a loud, almost gunshot sound, as it hits the wall behind her.

Worried, but still of a mind to show these boys she's not some sissy girl, she stands, and pops a foul, which is caught by one of the boys, who comes and shows off at her. The next two are also popped fouls, getting her ribbed even more. But, she knows as well as the older boy, that they are actually pretty closely matched. He winds again, and this time she sends the ball flying.

"Oh, God! I hope dat doesn't hurt anything," she said as she watched the ball sail...

Kris sat in the Paragon Pizza on the corner of Elm and National, when it hit her. She needed to call Kali! What was pizza and a never ending pitcher of soda without a friend? Pulling out her cellphone, she called first to Kali's room, then she used her comm. Either way, there was Pizza to be had, adn a willing pizzaria to host such a thing!

"Hi Kali's voicemail! This is Kris! I just wanted to let your owner know that I have nothing in particular on my slate today, so I figured a round of pizza and all you can drink soda might help out a girl chat! Well, I'll catch you around! bye!"

She hoped Kali got the voicemail in time to do something about it...
