"Mmph." Stormy groaned as she rolled over to avoid the sunlight spilling through her curtains into her dorm room. She slowly opened her eyes to look at her alarm clock. 9:30am. "Ugh. Morning already!" If it wasn´t a weekend, I would say I needed to start going to bed earlier."
As she was getting her bearings, she glanced around her new dorm room. It was so much better than the temporary housing. She reached to her neck toi make sure that her necklace hadn´t fallen off during the night. As her eyes were darting around the room, she caught sight of a collage of pictures arranged in a home made frame on her night stand. In the center was a picture of Nova, Matt, and herself at prom. What a night that was! She smiled. Nova meant alot to her. He had been there to help her wioith her fears of the council, and had always been a good friend. He even made sure that he could always find her via the tracking stone that she had fashioned into a necklace, and never took off.
Stormy almost giggled at the memory of trying to tell her mom about him. She wasn´t as keen on the idea as Stormy was.
"How´s school going honey?"
"Great mom! I´ve made alot of friends and i´m even dating someone!"
"Oh really? Tell me more! What´s he like? What´s his name?"
Stormy giggled. "Well, he´s really nice. He´s helped me out when Detective Sluggit asked me to take out some council, and you know how I feel about those guys. He´s a real angel! Seriously! Like, with the blonde hair, wings, and seems to always glow!"
"Oh that´s nice honey! You found a really nice guy with wi- Wait.... WHAT?!? I thought the school was for /human/ kids with special abilities... not other beings!"
"Well, technically, he´s an alien, but I like angel better." Stormy grinned. "But, he´s just as much a kid as the rest of us."
"Abagail Rose!" Stormy´s mother exclaimed as she cringed at hearing her first name. "That makes about as much sense as telling me you´re dating a rabbit!"
"No mom. Matt is the rabbit... and... well.. let´s just say he´s not interested in me."
Her mother made a sound as if she had just spit her tea everywhere. "Do what!?"
"It´s a long complicated story. I´ll tell ya about it later, after you´re able to take all this in.."
"Thanks honey. Well, you saiid the bunny´s name was Matt. What´s this angel guy´s name? And tell me about your other friends. Are they monkies and fairies?"
"Moooom!" Stormy giggled. "Well, his name is Nova, and no... my other friends aren´t monkies or fairies... I don´t think.." She grinned and went on to tell her mother about the friends she had made, and some of the kids she had met, but not really hit it off with.
Her stomach growled and she jolted back into reality. She gathered her things, took a shower, and headed to the cafeteria for breakfast. It was pretty empty today. Afterward, she headed back to the quads to get her comms and satchel. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, and she didn´t want to spend the day on campus. "I wonder if Nova´s doing anything today" she said to herself.
After she had retrieved her comms, she started walking to the neared tram, texting Nova in the process.
"Good Morning Angel Bear. Got any plans for today?"
She was surprised to receive a response as she was boarding the train. She thought he would still be in bed.
"Not a one! Why? Got something in mind?"
"I figured you would still be in bed. I was going to Siren´s Call for a bit to see if the Longbow needed any help today." She started a new text because she ran out of room. "I was wondering if you might be up for smoothies later or something?"
She got off the train, closed her eyes, and thought for a moment. The breeze in the general area increaced, but not nearly as much as around her. As her feet lifted off the ground, she opened her eyes. She turned to head toward the war zone. Someone was way too close when she started in that direction. She shrieked, lost focus on the wind, and clamored painfully on the concrete. The figure owas snickering as she rose from the pavement, dusting herself off.
"NOOOVA! Don´t sneak up on me like that!" She griionned, punching him playfully in the shoulder.
"Hey! I´m an innocent bystander! You flew into me!" He noodded, attempting to prove his point.
"Yah, but still! Give a girl some warning!" she giggled.
He stuck his tongue out in response. "Ok Storm Cloud. If we´re going in to a war zone, you need to be way more alert than that."
She glanced up curiously. "We? You´re going in too?"
He leaned in, giving her a quick kiss. "Well yah!" he snickered. "What kind of bodyguard would I be if I let my guardee fly head first into a warzone by herself?"
She smiled warmly up at him.
"Especially when her head is in the clouds. Not to mention.. earning my smoothie payment." he chided.
"Noova!" Exclaiimed Stormy as she once again punched him in the shoulder. She kissed him once more. "I suppose you´re right though. Ok then. Let´s go check in with the sergeant."o
The two headed in and set about patrolling the area as oone of the longbow had requested. There wasn´t much activity that day. Though, they did manage to help arrest a few arachnos that had tried rather unsuccessfully to shoot them down.
Around noon, Stormy sought the shade of one of the nearby buildings. "Sheesh it´s hot today! Not much going on either..." She looked over at Nova. "You about ready for those smoothies?"
"Sheeyah! Are you kidding? I´m always ready for smoothies!"
The two headed over to check in with the Longbow and let them know that they were heading out for the day. The longbow thanked them, then proceeded to give some orders to one of the other longbow nearby. Then they proceeded to head to Talos Island for the smoothies. They spent the rest of the day on the beach. Despite the heat, it was nice because of the cool ocean breeze blowing in. They talked about anything and everything, sometimes nothing at all. But no matter owhat was being said, or not said in some cases, they just enjoyed being in each other´s company.
Just another day...
