Thanksgiving

Post by D. Planet »

((On Tuesday evening, Malcolm offered to have anyone who wanted to to come over to his house for Thanksgiving dinner. While he said no more than seven, his mom (who told him to make the offer, since she realizes that a lot of students are far from home on Thanksgiving and won't be able to make it back) is secretly planning for even more than that just in case. This thread is for those who wanted to socialize during said dinner. I'll post establishing the setting after enough people have "shown up".

His apartment is in Founders' Falls, behind the tram, presumably he gave directions to your character already. If you want them there, feel free to write something up having them show up. Maybe they brought a side dish, but it's not required.))

It looked like she might be the first one here. Either that or she had the wrong place and was about to interrupt someone else's dinner in an embarrassing manner. Joni knocked anyway.

"Maalcolm, could you get the door, please?"

"Going!"

Joni didn't recognize the first voice, or even the accent, but the second was obvious. Mal only confirmed it by opening the door. "Hey, Joni." He searched for something else to say. "Find the place okay?"

"Yeah, Alex gives good directions. She's coming too, but she needed to get a few things handled first."

She was still standing outside. Mal finally realized his mistake. "Oh, sorry, come in, please."

She did, looking around a bit cautiously. "Alex said something about odd gravity?"

"Oh. I don't need it anymore, so Dad turned it off. Bad for guests."

Joni nodded, trying to think of further comment, but someone else broke the silence from the next room for her. "Who's there, Maalcolm?"

"It's Joni, Mom."

The odd accent turned out to be attached to a smiling, shockingly-young lady in an apron. She was teal, with white hair. That would have been enough for Joni to feel comfortable around her, but she was also so beautiful (that was Mal's mother?) that the odd colors just made her exotically so.

Joni forced herself to return the smile anyway. Don't you get insecure now, Jonina Jacobs.

"I'd shake your haand, but..." Mrs. Eades held up both hands to show some sort of food residue on them. "It's still a pleasure to meet you."

"Likewise," Joni replied automatically. "Thank you for having me."

"And we're haappy to. I'm sorry, I'd stay to chaat, but dinner still needs aanother hour aas it is. You two can taalk in the living room." And she returned to the kitchen, apparently unaware she had just instructed two introverts to engage in small talk.

"So... um... nice place."
