Bryan stood up and patted Malcolm on his armored shoulder. "No worries Mal! We'll just zip ya down to the shop and airbrush your suit black and white. Voila! Instant tuxedo."

Pushing his chair back in he added with a smile. "Seriously though, show up anyway. Damn the man, fight the power, all that."

*a voice floats out of one corner of the room*

As I've said before, Mal, I can whip up an illusion for you. I have never tried to place one on another person, but I do not see how it can be very hard.

*Kara Evans fades in, holding a book and watching the three boys*

All this is illusion, *she says, gesturing at her uniform* In reality, I'm wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt right now. And my bunny slippers.

You do not have to accept, of course, but it is something to think about.

*Kara goes back to her book, fading in and out of sight as she stands there*

Malcolm yelped in surprise when Kara appeared next to him out of nowhere, nearly falling out of his seat. It took about thirty seconds for him to get his bearings and process Kara's offer.

"I dunno...I guess that could work, but...it'd be kind of weird for me to adjust to that. I don't think I was gonna go anyway...there were some kids makin' fun of me at the Halloween party."

Alex entered the library with a pair of fat books under her arm just Malcolm said his last sentence.

"Kids made fun of you at the Halloween Dance?" she said surprised. "That's low."

Put one of tomes in the book drop and sat down one table over from the boys. With a slight sigh, she open up Theodore Rex to the first page of the first chapter.

Edit: Slight rewrite

Mal nodded. "Yeah...some of the people who don't really go out on the streets training much. They said my costume would stupid and I should have just stayed in my dorm. They also said I smelled funny..."

Mal fidgeted uncomfortably, then raised his algebra book in a feeble attempt to make it look like he was studying.

"Wow...Sorry man. People are real dumb sometimes," Alex sighed.

"Indeed," said Kara. "I do not understand how people who go to this school feel that it is possible to tease someone for being unusual. That was not a dig, by the way, Malcolm. I have my own...eccentricities. Please do not let the actions of a few dictate your opinion of the school, okay? My offer is open if you ever want to give it a shot."

*Kara closes the book she started just a few minutes ago* "Ridiculous stuff. Now let me see..." *she fades in and out as she starts to browse again*

Mal continued staring at his book. He was tired of being the center of attention, and hoped that the other students would move on to their other conversations without him.

Ty chewed on the tip of his pencil, looking down at his English book. The young boy had to get his grades up, as he was hovering around the failing area. He wasn't necessarily dumb, he just didn't want to put the effort into class. "How long until the bell rings...?" He muttered to himself eyeing the clock.

It had been a long while since Mal had taken advantage of the library to do his studying. Most of the time recently his studying had taken place somewhere in Atlas Park, at his house, or at Trixie's. Sometimes, though, he needed the library. Sister Moltar had specified under no uncertain terms that Internet sources would NOT be allowed to be used for citations in his bibliography. So here Mal was, poring over some exceeding dense Shakespeare critiques, trying to find some good quotes to support his thesis statement about how Macbeth was a villain and yet still the protagonist. When he had asked a member of the drama club about this, they gave him a weird, somewhat shocked look and walked off. Mal had no idea what that had been about.

((Yes, I know I was the last person to post here, but that was in September, and I didn't feel like posting another "studying in the library" thread when I already have a perfectly good one I can post to.))

Once again, Malcolm found himself the library, poring over the shelves of books, looking for ones on the topic he wanted read about. This time, though, he wasn't on the hunt for something for a school project. While reading things on the internet was well and good, occassionally he felt the need to read an actual book on topics that interested him. Maybe he was old fashioned? He didn't know.

Finally, he stuck gold, as he pulled a book that looked at least thirty years old, it's hard-backed cover wrapped in the weird plastic cellophane that the library used to preserve it. The cover, for its part, featured a man that looked like the guy who used to paint "happy trees" on PBS strumming a bass guitar in an empty room. Over him loomed the title "BASS GUITAR ESSENTIALS: INTERMEDIATE LEVEL".

Mal shuffled to a table nearby, sat down, and began to read.

Luke Bartel grudgingly walked his way to the library on campus. He does this often, but why?

He's not really the type to spent his afternoon reading. But, it was a slow day, so why not? While he walked down the stairs and into the "Science" section, he browsed the school's library catolog in his head. After a few seconds of filtering through the results of his search, he found what he was looking for: "Applied Use of Electricity in Energy Systems: The Definitive Explanation of Physics in the Modern World", a thick textbook written by a few dozen college scientists holed up in their underground lab, or something like that.

Luke found the book, looked it over, and sat down at the nearby sofa...it was going to be a long day.

The leather jacket-clad boy sighed and started at the first chapter, looking miserable in doing so.
Luke: "Hey, I've got some standards for girls."
Franky: "What, two legs?"
Luke: "Nah, two nice legs."

Lina as well stepped into the library, toting a few textbooks as well as a couple books she had borrowed from the library the week before to read during detention. She first headed to return the books, then with that handled, she headed to the nearest table and pulled out her mathbook, starting off with the subject she knew would take the least time to get done. Scribbling on some extra note paper as she puzzled out the questions and eying her history books like a monster would jump out any second and eat her, Arly sighed slightly, quietly muttering about the evils of history homework.

Ty half heartedly knawed on the end of his pencil, obviously stuck on a complicated biology question. Looking up from his worksheet, he quickly scanned the library searching for anyone that could be of service.
