Sister Mary Edith, Head Librarian

Post by Pu-244 »

Sister Mary Edith is a kind, motherly old woman. She is the library administrator, overseeing a small staff that includes Sister Salvation and one or two lay-people.

Sister Mary Edith is not secretive about her past. She was born Elsa Kozlowski in Krakow, Poland in the late 1920s. Though she and her parents were Catholic, her mother's grandparents were Jewish, and after the German invasion of Poland, she and her parents were declared mischlinge and moved into the ghetto, and later, sent to Płaszów. During her childhood in the ghetto, she was attacked by a small group of soldiers, and it was in that moment that her powers first manifested. With the force of her mind, she disabled the soldiers, killing one of them. She fled the scene, and her family, terrified of repercussions, kept her hidden. Her mother, fearing that her daughter's powers were unholy, made Elsa swear to never use them. After the Krakow ghetto was liquidated, she was sent to the Płaszów camp with her mother; she would never see her father again. For nearly two years at Płaszów she kept her word to her mother, keeping her powers a guarded secret. Though her mother would die in the camp, Elsa survived to see Płaszów liberated.

After the liberation of Płaszów, Elsa took confession for the first time in nearly five years. Among her confessed sins, she admitted to the priest that she had sinful, supernatural abilities. The priest comforted her, and for the first time, she was told that her powers were a gift, rather than a curse. The priest connected her with sisters of the Order of Cupertino, and Elsa was brought to America in 1948. She took her vows soon after, and came to the convent in Paragon City, finding comfort and support with others like her. She began to work in the library of Saint Joseph's School for Girls (as SJS was known at the time), and has been here ever since.

Sister Mary Edith's powers are put to good use tending to the library, shelving dozens of books at once and generally keeping things in order. However, with age, her mind is not as sharp as it once was. Though she keeps the library tidy, and can easily recall any book she's ever read, the new computerized cataloging system is quite beyond her. She seems to have a problem keeping up after Sister Salvation, the young nun who constantly seems to be there, making a mess of her library.

Sister Edith Schmidt,
Age: 86

This kind young motherly old woman was a survivor the the halocaust in germany, at the time she was in her 20's when she was placed on hitlers death camps. once the allies won the war she made a honest living tending to soldiers in bars and tavers befor one night almost being raped. when she descoverd her talents in the field of telakanesus. Her ability to control solid objects and use them as weapons lead her to paragon city where she herd of people with her "problem" came. Some years after she became a mistress of the cloth (or more involved) after a few atempts at crime fighting. though back then women had a minor role to fill and the public was not looking for a woman to save there life. She found that her powers where easaly aplicable to tending to the Saint Joseph Schools library, her mind already had a knack for cataloging and data entry she keeps the library tidy ship shape and never forgets a book and where it is at all time, but seems to have a problem with keeping up after the young woman who constently seems to be there making a mess of her books. Though deep down they both share the same psassion for the paper and hard back novels and have come to understanding of each other. However she cant help to be the sweetest of sweet old ladies, But still has a knack for cracking a joke or two that leaves the students and staff crackaling.
No offence but Sister Salvation is our librarian

If Salvation tries to quit now I will personally drag her sorry behind back behind the bookshelves....doesn't mean we can't have more than one librarian though, you realize. My high school had four.

Then we can have a battle of nuns WITHOUT Salvation giving up her swinging pad in the Library. She won't like having to share her space with a soon-to-be corpse! *snickers*

Thanks for the love Francis and Jaygo!

But its a great idea, Pu. Especially if you're planning on spending much time in the library, I can understand wanting an NPC you're in control of to help with story lines and whatnot.

Actually, having Sister Edith might be a hell of a lot of fun. Imagine the humor as Salvation gets away with things by getting them past a little old lady who calls her "dear."

Might give me a chance to actually interact with more of the students if she employs them to help trick and fool and get things past the militant old lady.

I say bring on Sister Edith!!

Start it up! It can be a great general library thread where anyone who wants to have a scene or two in the library can come to us instead of having to hunt them all down!

Start it under SJS Thread Stories. That's where the student IC fiction should be.

I look forward to this.... :P
