SJS Library

The SJS library is one of the oldest buildings on the SJS campus. The stone pillars that line the entrance are ancient along with the many books that line its selves.

The interior is made up of a large vaulted ceiling that was panted in a large astrology map that encompasses all 12 of the zodiac star clusters. Each has a detailed illustration of the corresponding sign. The linings of the walls and edges are embroidered in fine handcrafted dark cherry wood. The building is laid out as a large square the front has a large island where the computer terminals lay and the sisters quietly perform there day to day task from organizing books to returning them on the many book carts. Several row's of work stations line up behind the check out station, each is a large long table, in front of each a wood chair and a small Victorian lamp for lighting. The library is usually dark creates the dim silent atmosphere. Behind the work area starts the massive collection of books. Due to the large size of the collection it was necessary to add a second story that overlooked the front part of the library, the railings where made of hand crafted steel weaved in patterns that reflected the Victorian age. The stares that lined the eastern and western walls to the second level where draped in a lush red rug. The floors where covered in a white and dark brown marble tile.

Around the library lay several podiums, glass and wood cases that house artifacts and unique memorabilia from all over the world. Also adding to the studying atmosphere where several beautiful tapestry that where ether made or donated to the school. Not too many where up so the students where not to distracted. Though Sister Marry Edith did have some of the artifacts and tapestries changed out from time to time to keep things different and "Shake things up a-bit".

In the very back there lays a gated door only Sister Salvation, Sister Marry Edith and other key members of the school have keys to, this leads to the downstairs basement where a vault of the schools artifact collection lay. It’s a dusty dungeon like atmosphere with no power only old fashion battery lights or torcheslight the way. Each of the alcoves that lead to the vault are filled with boxes dusted over with old books that where left and forgotten to time and the school...then again if they where down there they where usually ment to never exist......

The SJS library, its open to everyone but the golden rule is if your thinking to hard your probably making to much noise and despite the labyrinth of books... the sisters somehow know where you are at all times, and have a knack for caching mischief with the back end of the of a old ruler uncannily coined "The silent enforcer".

Please note if anyone finds a hookah please return it to Pu-244.

(OOC Comments and in char comments are to be keep to a min, afterlal it is a library, and i dont think anyone wants to be on the receving end of the silent enforcer. I know Edith may be old but she has one hell'a swing! isent that right franky!))

((I personally would love this to be a hang out for the students. Salvation is all for making noise and enjoying the books. Just don't ENJOY the books!

Pu - just for reference sake, Salvation is a ex-con who had the choice of prison time or joining a convent. She's a nun who wears aviator glasses, keeps a flask of alcohol in her habit and chain smokes like cigarettes are going to be banned in a hour. As if to say, she's not really a nun per say. ))

((ah i see well i kina wrote it knowing absolutly nothing about anyone or thing for that matter. But to clarify frankies question, This for is open ended for any story to start or stop. students can come in freely to do what they want and act as if it was a library this wealth of knolage at there disposal. hell franky could come in and find a book that belonged to the cabal and start a new story arch. pluto could find a book that can answer her questions. siren could find a karma sutra and seduction book XD. Who knows its up to you guys the library is full of secrets hidden within pages you just have to know where to find that needel in this haystack. Think of it as a library theres always new and old issues of the paragon times. even books that are otherworldly.))

((I doubt a book dealing with seduction would be in our library, or certain other subjects for that matter. This is a Catholic school run by nuns, after all.))

((My rule is to basically never say no to a story idea as long as it doesn't harm anyone. So if you need there to be a book about seduction or witchcraft of underwater basket weaving in the library, its there for you.))

Francis wandered into the Library between classes.

"Hey Salvation!" She cringed, reminding herself of the library voice issue. Much quieter, "Hey Salvation, where are ya? I got a problem a book can't fix but maybe you can."

She smiled, maybe Salvation had found that book she had hidden her flask in finally.

((if there was a book that sliped by Sister Edith that isent aproved we can blame it on salvation. You know haveing some oposite ends of the spectrum in one building can be...quite intresting heheh))

A loud clatter came from behind one of the shelves, the scent of clove cigarette smoke filled the air. There was the sound of something being crushed some choked coughing and the sound of a little metal cap being screwed hastily back onto a little metal container. Salvation came out waving her hands around her head a moment before opening a second window and smiling politely at Francis.

A darting glance to see if the old crone Edith was around, when she didn't see her, she relaxed and walked over to Francis. "Good lord, girl you've gotta stop barging in here all aiming to scare the beejesus out of me."

She eyed her carefully, "What the heck kind of trouble are you going to get me into now?"

BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP
The alarm goes off as Kali reaches to slap it and stop its annoying sounds. It is 4:30am. She hasn't been asleep long. She stayed up studying almost the whole night. Today is her final security exam and shes so worried about passing it.
Her detention with Sister Salvation isn't exactly how she wanted to spend her morning but there was no use argueing with the nun.
She makes her way from the warm covers and to the bathroom to shower and try to wake herself.
Uniform on , hair combed and pulled back into a braid she makes her way to the library next.
As she wanders in a few minutes late she sees Kris standing with the libraian , coffee and breakfast rolls in hand.
Kali walks toward the two , the annoyance of having to be here quite visable.
As she waits for Sister Salvation to show her the way to the stack of molded grub infested books shes to clean she leans towards Kris and says with a giggle..
hows it feel to kiss penguin ass first thing in the morning?
Then seeing the shocked look on Kris's face gives her a light poke in the sides and says Im just teasin .... you can get even with me later with extra grubworms or something and gives the younger girl a smile

"Relationships??" she blurts out loudly with a look of malace in her eyes. With a soft smile she points to the shelves on love and relationships. "But honey, I'm sure theres nothing in those books that will help like just talking to someone would, y'know?" She patted the girl on the shoulder and started to walk away.

Taking the coffee and bagel with a smile and thank you to Kris, she showed them down to the back of the library, down a set of wrought iron spiral stairs to a dungeon of a room. On one side there is a carefully preserved and locked case and closet of what looks like artifacts from god knows when. "Touch it and Edith with cut your fingers off one knuckle at a time." She pointed to the case with the hand that held her coffee.

They walk past to a dank and musty corner where a bare overhead lightbulb swings ominously over many stacks of books that each get to be taller than Salvation is. When the light swings, cockroaches scurry out from the piles where books have toppled and there is a mouse chewing happily on one of the open volume's covers.

She gave them both a stack of thin tissue paper that would not save their hands from having to touch the junk on the books and a light cleaning solution that would make them have to be careful and work hard to get the stains out.

"I'll be back in three hours to see how far you've gotten." She still had her aviator sunglasses on even in the dark basement. "Don't come get me unless its REALLY really important." And with that Salvation turned and headed back up the spiral stairs into her own small dorm room and the girls can hear her flop down on her bed and go back to sleep.

Kali follows along with Kris as Sister Salvation leads them to this old seldom explored section of the school.
Looking around she wonders why they keep books stored in this dampness.
As the Sister shows them the books they will be cleaning and explains the details of thier job, Kali whispers to Kris...
I sure hope we have time to go shower before class.... I mean I really dont want to smell this bad later this morning
Just then she sees the cockroaches scurry and gasps , grabbing Kris's hand she wonders what the two girls did to deserve a job like this and what would have the punnishment had they done worse.
oh well , c'mon Kris , maybe we can find some interesting info in this mess. Or at least train a mouse to carry notes to the outside world. Looks like its gonna be a long day
