Kara smiled and kissed Nigel one last time. As the Bard said, parting was indeed sweet sorrow. She made a note on her PDA about the date later that week, waved goodbye, and went back to her room just before being caught by lights-out.

The red-head started to change into her pajamas, but froze when something in her pocket crackled. Her good mood was immediately ruined when she pulled the paper out to read it again. Spending time with Nigel had helped her forget about the terrible things written there, but she had to address them. She knew of only one hero who could help her.

Two nights later, she sat at a table at Bruno’s next to Bobby, known to the media as the hero Katabatik. They sat very close, talking and laughing. Occasionally she would make a note on a pad in front of her, and then he would say something else funny and they would crack up again. They never noticed the clock.

Nigel did. He watched it from the table in an expensive restaurant in the mall across town. Even the water was expensive there, but she was worth it.

An hour later, he was still staring. Kara was a hero. She got held up sometimes, he knew that.

A half hour after that, and the table was empty.
