Starlight, Starbright (Open)
Kris couldn't sleep. There were too many emotions, and some were much stronger than others. She was being bombarded on all sides by emotions that were not her own. Silently slipping out of the bed, the red haired teen slipped a pair of dove grey pajama bottoms, an oversized flannel shirt, and her white bunny slippers on, before silently making her way out.
Making her way past the RA's room, she slid outside, and hovered across the campus. The wing containing the music room and her beloved 1500's Bavarian Harpsichorde was locked. With a sigh the girl sat down, and tried her best to meditate and get the emotions out of her system that were not her own. Amy's and Johnny's words came back to her. She needed to see this doctor that Sapphire knew about.

As Kris sat down for meditation, she was interrupted by the discordant clash of notes coming from a piano, giving off a sound almost like the instrument was in pain, as several keys hammered at once.
"Gaaah!" The voice she could swear was meant to be a low whisper but filled the supposedly empty room of the music hall, as if the voice were amplified. "This stupid phrase is going to drive me nuts!" She detected the voice of the new student, Jason Berezhin coming from inside.

Looking around, Kris hovered around to the windows to the music room. Eventually finding an unlocked window, the girl slipped in and hovered across. The boy was definately not having a good time of it. Focusing on her own inner welspring of good emotions, Kris reached out a hand, gently touching the boy's shoulder, and channeled her regenerative energies into him. Even in the dim light. created by only a few lights in the room, her eyes glowed with her turbocharged empathy. Perhaps Grier's Syndrome had its good points, after all.
"Calm down, Jason," she shushed a little. "The nuns will have a fit if you're too loud. Especially that I'm here, now."

"Wha!?" Jason spun at the touch on his shoulder, and then collapsed down a bit with a soft chuckle. "Geeze, Kris, you scared me out of a years growth."
Seeing the concern on her face, Jason's brows knitted in confusion. "What do you mean? Sister said I could stay here for a bit while I worked on the music." He looked up at the window, and the dark sky. "What time is it?"

"Four, I think," she shrugged. "I can't sleep. Too many emotions flying around."

"Heh," she laughed a little. "Well, there is that. So, what's your boggle, there? Lyrics not working?"
Kris looked around, and found a nearby chair to pullup, then sat in it.

"Well, maybe if you tried something a little lessconfined at the end," Kris suggested as she stood and walked over to the piano. "Something like..."
She leaned down, and held herself up with her right hand as she played with her left hand. While the improvisation may not have been what he was looking for, Kris felt it open up a little.
"Something like that. I know it isn't quite what you may be looking for, but it seems to open it up for feeling. It becomes more intuitive."

"Hmm...might work." Jason fiddled with the keyboard a bit more, playing the change into the work, "I think it needs to fade a little though to bridge to the next stanza." He made an quick adjustment and played what Kris had added, and changed the end slightly, leading it into the rest of the song. "Yeah! I think that works!" He sat down and went to work on the keyboard in earnest, playing the music which came out a hard ballad. Nodding his head as he went along, muttering lyrics, stopping, backing up and playing again. "Thanks, you're a lifesaver." He looked up at the lightening sky. "Or at the very least a sleep saver." He winked.
"We better get out of here. I don't think the sister meant for me to stay THIS long working on things."

"No problem. I'll probably end up sitting on a bench til sunrise," she nodded. "Since it's four, are you actually going to try to go to sleep?"

Jason stopped at that, and thought about it for a minute "No, probably no point in going to sleep now, but we definitely need to get out of this room, or I'll never be allowed to use it again after hours." Jason leads Kris to the door. "She said it'd lock behind me when I left, come on. Any bench you had in mind?"

"Yeah," she smiled. "Ever seen the Wingra Tree? There's a bench there. I like to use it when I need to think things through."
She wasn't really aware of it, but in the moonlight, once they were outside, Kris really didn't look well. Walking along, she found her self humming a song she didn't know.

Kris laughed a little at that.
"Isn't it supposed to be 'Lay on, McDuff,'" she asked as she walked up to the tree planted in the former student's memory.
