After reading (mostly scanning) hundreds of posts I have not found a good answer to my question. So forgive me if there is a post about this some where all ready.
Is there a list of current teachers including names and classes taught as well as faculty and staff members? I am still learning more about the school every day. I have heard (IC) teachers names dropped and referred to. I don't know who they are though. Also, If my character needs to talk to a teacher or staff (IC) about any issues who should she speak to? Does someone take on that roll?

On a side note. My character is Japanese with a so-so grip on the English language. Yuki sometimes says things in Japanese when she doesn't know how to say it in English or if she's upset or over joyed. Is this a problem? Is this a violation of any rules? I have seen in many cases people assume something written in another language is a cuss word or something vulgar which 99 times out of a 100 is not the case. Is there anything I should know before I continue to do this? -Thanks again.

Well, quite frankly we don't have in-game staff or faculty. Authority roleplay was very difficult in the past, so we abandoned the idea. My best suggestion would be to write a fiction piece in Thread RP describing your conversation with a faculty member. Or you could ask Scruffy. He's our wise janitor who imparts knowledge.

Nope, no problem at all. Roleplay-wise it's not a concern. Story-wise you might just say something every now and then about SJS having gotten you a tutor to help you with your english. But either way, you breaking off occasionally into Japanese isn't a big deal at all (oh, although, now that I think about it, you may need to translate every now and then if a student speaks Japanese IC).

SJS has a curfew in place, which requires students to be back in their dorms (and probably in bed) after a certain time.

How does this apply to students who do not sleep? If a student does not sleep, would the school be willing to grant permission for them to do some other structured activity overnight?

Specifically, Eric has been volunteering at the hospital overnights. If he asked for a curfew waiver for that, would it be approved? Or will he have to sneak out at night?

I'd personally assume that for a worthy cause where you'd be supervised (IE volunteer work) that you'd be able to get an exception. For that matter student's patrol times might alter a hard-and-fast curfew too. If the Freakshow's weapons deal is going down at midnight, and Sister Psyche herself asks you to bust it up... who are a few old nuns to stop you from doing your duty to the city and its people?

I know that Mike has a hard time with the curfew; he sleeps three hours and is active for six or seven (approximate figures, all). Is there any way that he might have access to the library or something after hours?

Bob here has some issues with his, uh, state of being and wants someone to talk to. While he could go to some of his fellow students it would kinda be like discussing really personal medical info.

Hey all. Just a pleasant reminder of a couple things.

1. The PCs of the Saint Joseph School SG are approximately 150 students at a 300-student school. The difference between PCs and NPCs in this regard is usually that NPCs are non-combatant. A girl who turns anything she touches blue is not off redecorating a Council base (except maybe on a dare). Similarly, many SJS students are learning to control their powers, so that they can go to college and then lead a quiet, normal life.

2. SJS as a school does not teach "superheroing". They teach control and focused application of powers (yes, there is applied energy dymanics 101), but we do not have a Danger Room for students to practice combat, and the school does not send students on missions. During the second Rikti Invasion, it was revealed that training facilities for superheroes might exist under the campus, but no one can confirm that they are used.

3. No one lives off-campus unless their parents live in Paragon City, and the student lives with their parents.

4. Though they are not represented by PCs, there are faculty and staff at Saint Joe's and they have authority over your character. You can get grounded, set into a curfew, suspended, or put in detention. The comm channel is not monitored 24/7, but it is logged. SJS students are using the school's communication system: you have no "right to privacy" with things you say over the channel, and if the logs were reviewed by the administration, your character would certainly get into trouble for openly discussing drug use or illegal conduct (such as killing). Similarly, the Medevac system tracks students wherever they go. Though it is not meant to be a tracking system, the administration can access those records.

Well, after reading the entire thread, I feel like I've learned a bit...

I'm still kind of wondering about the science wing where Mal's at. How much freedom do we have in concieving the design of the room? Which design scheme does it follow, the girl's or boy's dorm? It's worth noting that I wouldn't think of anything extravagantly fancy....it'd have the makeup of a standard room, but with the extra tech needed for the gravity/inertial dampeners in the walls. Also, he'd need a bathroom somehow attached so he can do the things you do in a bathroom.

The topic came up in Cyro's question, and I have to come out and say that I DON'T want Mal to be isolated...I want people to come by and joke around and have fun in the lowgrav. Is the science wing at least not completely out of the way?

I also notice that the only other resident of the SW is Kai...who's a girl.

Largely, yes-- you have a great deal of say about what your room needs to have. What we'll need to debate a little is how the room's properties are going to affect (or not) students besides Malcolm.

My first thought is that some items in the room would simply be built to accommodate Malcolm's natural weight (which is, I think, something like 2 tons, right?). Well, that means that the toilet, the chairs, the bed, and the desk need to be able to basically support the weight of a large car or pickup truck.

While there is certainly super-science in play, I'm not sure how realistic an anti-gravity room is. Something might be simulated using electromagnets, I suppose. Hmm. Honestly (and this may sound really weird, but bear wth me) Malcolm's room might take advantage of magic rather than technology to accommodate him: while DATA may not have an antigravity generator, MAGI might have access to spells that make things float.

As for being isolated, well, once again, if we go with a magical route (something that does not require huge generators or machinery), then maybe all that would be required is that Malcolm's room must be on the ground floor of the dorm (you know, just in case ). Otherwise, yes-- Malcolm is in "special habitation" which I think we last established was on the ground floor of MECCa. Which is pretty isolated after curfew.

Regarding the coach, how do his abilities apply to appearances? For instance, if he dampens the flight abilities of a winged student, do the wings disappear? Or do they just not function? Or something in between?

Or, if a student (not naming names here ) has an odd skin color or ear shape that have nothing to do with any special powers, can he make those vanish?
