How long have the teachers been here?

Post by Timothy Bastian »

I'm trying to get some idea of which of our NPC teachers were teaching at SJS before the War. Or better, how long they've been teaching at SJS in general.

Are there any teachers who were here 5 to 10 years ago?

Are there any teachers who were here 25 to 30 years ago? In other words, long enough ago that somebody's parents might have been taught by them.

I've been able to determine the following so far:

Sister Hilde showed up in the early 1990's, so about 15 years ago.

Mr. Robert Brayder is in his late twenties. He probably wouldn't have finished college any sooner than his early twenties, so he's probably only been here for about five years or so.

Father Robert Montoya is described as one of the oldest and most respected figures in the city, and is mentioned as being placed in his position upon SJS's opening. It's unclear whether this is refering to its original opening in 1912, or it's re-opening following the war. Can anyone clarify? The first means he's been here forever, the second means he's only been here 5 years.

Cap'n Jack is established as having showed up after the War.

Doc Syl is established as having showed up after the War.

Due to their age, it seems unlikely the following would have been around 25 to 30 years ago. Were they at SJS before the War, though?

Valerie Atwoods
Coach Waters
Beatrice Madrigal

I haven't really been able to find much of anything on the following. Any ideas?

David Conrads
Gemini
Archimedes Merchant

And I'm sure I've missed some. Digging through the stuff is a bit hard sometimes. ^^ I'd appreciate any info people can bring to light on these characters!

(And I just noticed that I linked some NPC's and not others. Oh well. Meh :P)

I envision Father Bob has been at SJS since before the war, but he was not in a position of authority or involved with the administration until the school reopened.

Valerie Atwoods arrived at the school recently, within the last year.

Coach Waters has been at SJS for about 25 years. His power-suppression abilities were virtually useless during the war, so he spent much of the iinvasion hiding other super-types from Rikti detection.

Beatrice is new as well.

Conrads began at SJS before the war. His powers had no real value during the Rikti attacks except to comfort survivors, so he took no real part in the war itself.

Gemini has been at SJS for about a decade or so. Her twins fought and died in the Rikti War.

Dr. Merchant has been at SJS for almost 20 years. His role (if any) during the Rikti Invasion is unknown.

I think something to consider is that when 95% of the world's superheroes were killed, SJS lost approximately 95% of its superpowered staff.

As a result, many of the current faculty are new, or new-ish, perhaps drawn to SJS because so much money flooded into the school after the war.

Conversely, many of the Sisters of Cupertino have been here for decades.
